NEED OPINIONS on Breeder Hello YT, I need you super sleuths to use your awesome powers and help me review this breeder for a friend. Now, I know it isn't Yorkies, but a bad breeder is a bad breeder right? I've never heard of a Mi Ki, so I'm not sure what some of the red flags are for their breed specifically. The website seems to be saying a lot of good things (e.g. testing, etc.) However, there is a red flag for me saying the pups COME house trained... I need help weighing the pros and cons. Any advice is appreciated! :) Thanks in advance! House Broken DNA'd Mi-Ki Puppies For Sale Money Back Guarantee Hypo Allergenic non-shedding |
Actually the house training thing seems to be the only red flag I see... Granted I haven't combed the website yet. The testing is a huge plus. The only other problem I have is that I cannot see this "3 year guarantee" on the website. Maybe I can have my friend e-mail the breeder and ask for a copy/draft. |
1 Attachment(s) A MiKi is a mixed breed, and while there is nothing inherently wrong with a mixed breed, the purpose of purebred breeding is to be able to predict what adults will look like and how they behave. Everybody loves a puppy, but people are so shallow that if the dog loses its puppy good looks they often give it up. So being able to predict the looks is a good thing. Less will wind up in the pound. Here's a picture of just a couple of possible looks of a MiKi. Attachment 351631 and the dogs on their pages look like many different breeds. I think it's almost impossible to find a reliable mixed breed breeder, and their dogs are not registered by the AKC. Secondly, if someone has a paypal button on their website, I don't care what else they have to say. They are no better than a pet store that will sell to anyone. Byb’s will say it's for the customers’ convenience, but good breeders want to get to know future puppy owners, they care about their offspring. A lot of what they say is hype, "Our breeding dogs Hearts are examined by Board Certified Canine CARDIOLOGIST". Why does this newborn even need that? Housebroken? What can I say? Can't say for sure, but this looks to me like a puppymill. Also those dogs that have won best in show, it's not AKC shows. |
I knew they were mixes after looking at the site again and some Googling. They won in "rare breed" shows, which require no registry far as I know. I noted the housebroken thing (as I mentioned). I missed the paypal button so thanks for pointing that one out! I thought the testing is a good thing, so if they over test why knock that? The key would be making sure you get authentic records of all the supposed testing. |

I tried to encourage a Yorkie since she was interested in those first. Last time I talked to her she was between a Yorkie or any kind of shelter pup. I got this e-mail out of the blue. :/ I just want to arm myself with why she shouldn't (if there is a reason not to), so she might go back to wanting a shelter/Yorkie. |
