Looking for a Morkie Breeder in Georgia Our family recently lost our 12 yr. old Pembroke Welsh Corgi. My teenage girls and I have been looking at small breed dogs and we love the look of the Yorkie/Maltese cross. Does anyone know of a reputable breeder in the GA/SC/FL area? I am willing to drive..I do not want to buy from a puppy mill..I want a new addition to our family that is healthy and will also bring our family many years of love and happiness. |
Welcome to YT! Good luck on your search. Have you considered rescue? There are lots of mixed breed doggies that you can find on Pet adoption: Want a dog or cat? Adopt a pet on Petfinder Also, in case you don't know, since you are looking for a mix, not all mixed breed dogs look alike. Some morkies look more like malteses, others look more like yorkies, and some look like neither. Either way, I'm sure you'll find the perfect pup for your family. Happy searching. :D |
Welcome to YT! I know you want to find the perfect pup, but just be aware, that no reputable breeder purposely breeds mixed breed dogs. Reputable breeders only breed to better the breed. There is no betterment in mixing breeds. You will not know how it will eventually end up looking. Many disreputable breeders will call these dogs "designer" dogs and charge as much or even more for them than a purebred. That said, mixed breed dogs can be easily found in shelters or rescues. Personally, I don't understand paying more than a few hundred dollars for a mixed breed pup. I'm not talking down to people who own mixed breeds, they are cuties too, but there is no reason for the breeders to charge that much for them other than the demand for "designer dogs". PS, I know you said you don't want to support a mill, that's very good! :) Please be aware, if you don't already know this, that buying a pup from a petstore (or anything from a store that sells dogs or cats) is supporting a puppymill. |

There are lots of mixed breed dogs available for adoption in shelters and resuces. :) By going that route, you wouldn't be supporting shady breeders and would be sure you are getting one with the 'look' you want instead of taking a crap shoot on a pup and having no idea what it will end up looking like as an adult. |
Two of mine are Yorkie/Maltese mixes. They are both rescues and as you can see from my avatar they look nothing alike. Bogey looks very much like a Yorkie in his face, has brown eyes, silkie coat but is blonde all over. Doodlebug has black eyes, cottony coat and looks more Maltese. If you look around on YT there are others that have this mix as well and they look nothing like my two and some have Yorkie colorings. Other will change colors all the way up to two years old. So as you can see there is no way to tell what a Morkie will look like when full grown. I would agree that looking into rescue would give you the best bet on what you are looking for otherwise it is a crap shoot. Good luck with your search and I hope you find the perfect new pup. :) |
