I was thinking about purchasing a puppy from them, is that not a good idea?

I personally don't believe that just because a kennel is on the USDA breeder list that they are necessarily a horrible breeder. They are, however, breeding for profit, and not for the love of the breed in all probability, and this is where many of us have a problem, if you are breeding for profit, you will take shortcuts, anything from breeding dogs not suitable for breeding to breeding dogs that are currently the latest fad and skipping things like health testing. Most breeders are breeding for profit, whether, they are a backyard breeder or a large commercial breeder. To find a sincere breeder who breeds for the love of the breed and doesn't take shortcuts requires a lot of investigation. I usually recommend someone visiting the mother club of Yorkies, the YTCA and find a breeder who belongs to the club, you still have to interview them, and know what questions to ask, but the likelihood of getting a healthy dog increases, if you go to a breeder who cares about such things.

If any breeder you interview says they sell to pet stores, run the other way. Good breeders want to choose the homes where they offspring go and want the right to refuse to sell to poor homes. Pet stores will sell to anyone with money. The report says, "Dog started coughing few days after purchase. Is now in hospital with bilateral pneumonia and xrays also showed evidence of previous trauma associated with the right coxofemoral joints."

That was my recommendation after she contacted me with a private message, go see the place... Good2know you are approx. 2 hrs away from that breeder. Sadly that is a very profitable business and even that is "regulated" is not really regulated. They gave their website a facelift and wrote all kind of sweet information, they are laughing all the way to the bank... Sherri Gillum was not that sweet & caring to me on the phone when I call her. I don't think Lakeview Kennels is a puppy mill :ip:, nah... IS A PUPPY FACTORY blowing black smoke out of a chimney!:mad:

There is a bad breeder in Washington State, her name is : Trudy Miller and she is registered with AKC.

Hi, my husband and I contacted her and asked her for her address to see her puppies. First of all when we got at her address, she had put a crate with a pregnant female and a puppy from other litter.
My husband asked if we could see where they are raised and she denied it strongly. Also she does not accept returns either.

I am not really understanding why you are calling this person a bad breeder. If this is the Trudy Miller I am thinking of she is the one that bred Yoda, who was owned by the owner of Yorkietalk (Fasteddie). Trudy is also a show breeder.
Can you explain a little better why you did not like this breeder? Hopefully it was just a misunderstanding.

I bought a puppy here AT Lakeview-Kennels as well, she died 4 days later of Parvo!!! Sherri Gillum wanted to replace her with her sister. My vet said absolutely not, the sister most likely has parvo too and now this womans house is contaminated with the parvo virus. Sherri Gillum is a filthy, liar, her web page is ALL LIES!!!!! My puppy did not have her registration papers in the envelope and at her death she was not micro chipped as Sherri said. Also, she is treating these puppies herself with shots, my vet told her he stopped using those shots 15 YEARS AGO!!!!!! Dishonest PEOPLE!!!!

Hello and welcome to YorkieTalk. I am so sorry you lost your baby to parvo. How old was your puppy when you got it and do you know at what age the vaccinations were started? Many breeder start the shots to early. Since the puppy died 4 days after you got the puppy then it obviously contacted the parvo before you got the pup. You were very wise to not get another pup from her. Did she return your money?

Is there any where you can complain about breeders?
My littler Yorkie was sick and dying and my sister went to what she thought was a reputable breeder outside of Buffalo. She bought a puppy for $1200 and flew her to Atlanta as a gift. I fell in love with the puppy but... liver problems, two luxating patella (3/4). It makes me sick!!!

I am so sorry to hear about your little yorkie. YorkieTalk does have a section for posting breeder reviews. Scroll down to the breeder section and you will see a section for Breeder, Vet and Groomer Reviews. You can post the breeders name and your experience with them there. Did the breeder give any kind of guarantee? If she was a reputable breeder she should have given you another puppy or your money back.

Was it Dan's Kennel? Ugggghhhh, this is so sad. Yes you can complain to the BBB, AKC if she is registered, and here on YT.

That’s just Horrible to hear. I went to the BBB, as one source to check on my Breeder.
You can post on this site but it won’t reach as many buyers as the BBB.
