Celtic Irish Puppies - (Puppies by Marie) I had to respond to someone who posted on here, but it was dated 2005! I came across this site when I googled the breeder. This breeder, actually puppy broker, imports her dogs from Ireland and I've met 7 owners and 6 of them have had BAD experiences from this place. However, all of the pups that came from this breeder whom I 've met were Westies and Cavalier King Charles Spaniels. I'm sure the breeder isn't selective and onlu sells sick Westies and Cavaliers...I would not recommend buying a dog from this woman - ever. Our story is told on our Dogster page: http://www.dogster.com/dogs/381013/d...s_diary/209943 |
Thank you for sharing - hopefully people looking at this breeder will see this post....that's so sad for the dogs. |

"Puppies by Marie" Hi - I discovered this site by accident. I purchased a Wheaten Terrier from "Puppies by Marie" less than four years ago. He was beautiful inside and out. We named him Trouble because he was a rip. After about six months he started urinating all over the house. I thought he had a kidney infection. He was diagnosed as having renal dysplasia. I called Marie and she said all of her dogs have been healthy and this is the first time she ever heard about this illness. She asked for my number and said she would call me. I never heard from her again. The vet said there is not much that can be done as far as medicine goes. We had to put Trouble on a prescription diet - low salt and low protein. We administered IV every night. I also took him to a holistic doctor in Westchester who prescribed different herbs and vitamins. Our hearts broke this year on New Year's Day when Trouble went to a better place. Hondo |
Hondo, thank you for sharing your story. It is very sad to hear that she does this all too often. I've already met 7 others and now you make 8 who have purchased sick puppies from her. Check your inbox, I sent you a message. |
I love westies....before I got a yorkie (my dream dog!) I wanted to research a few other breeds first, to make sure that they wouldn't be a better fit for us. Westies were at the top of my list! And yours are gorgeous! Thanks for sharing your story. So many crappy/uncaring/greedy breeders out there. GRRRR! |

Puppies By Marie Thanks - Hopefully others will read about my experience and the word will spread about "Puppies By Marie". |
My 5 cents worth... Dublin came from Marie and had kennel cough when we got him. At the time I thought that it was probably from his trip over here since Marie went on and on about how strict the breeding programs were in IRE. She said they were much more careful there and that was why thery didn't have rabies and the pups didn't have to be quarantined when coming into the States. Her home was clean and the puppies were kept in a little crib in the living room and were well cared for. Since they'd come from overseas the parents weren't available to see. That said.... Dublin is not even close to the standard! He's now 10lbs (I actually think he was younger than she said he was when we got him because his weight was on-target then.), has a very noticeable under-bite, a roach back and dry skin issues. Other than that he seems healthy... so far... he's not quite 2 yrs old, though, and hondo's story kinda' scared me! He's a wonderful pet with a big dynamic loving personality. He's fit nicely into our family and we love him dearly... he's just not what I was expecting in a Yorkie. Thanks to Sylvan Yorkies Dublin's little girlfriend, Widget, is everything I expected in a Yorkie... and more!! |
Hondo, I am sorry for your loss, but spreading the word can one day shut this so called breeder down. This is ridiculous and something needs to be done. |
My Cody is from Marie ......he's about 14 weeks old now, i got him on christmas eve.....and so far everything is pretty ok. he had a hacking cough the first couple of days after i got him, but i took him to a vet by me and we gave him antibiotics and now he is fine, still a little hacking here and there but nothing consistent....but then again he eats up the wee wee pads.... i'm glad i found this but will definitely be wary of cody's behavior.... |
I had a look at your page there and what has happened to u is awful. I am from Belfast in the north of Ireland and im sorry to tell you that all breeders are not 100%. Just last year here in the north there was 2 incident of so called puppy farms. In the first incident there were over 300 westies, yorkies and a mixture of toy dogs found living "if you could call it that" in absoulty horrid conditions, and in the second the same case but not so many dogs this time. These dogs were all rescued some had to be put to sleep but the rest were all rehomed to good owners, I even tried to rehome 1 my self but due to high demand for them i didnt get a look in.lol. Now thats 2 cases in the north of Ireland. We dont really get any news from the South but i can assure u if its happening here its happening down there. Its such big money. These dogs are advertised in local newspapers and delivered to ur door so u never get a chance to see the parents or the way they have been raised. If I were u I would stick to getting a dog of a breeder u can at least call on if anything like this were ever to happen again. Again im so sorry what happened to you. |
Thank you KelKiss...hopefully some other pup will learn from this experience.:animal-pa |
