Warning!! Bad Breeder!
 

I want to share the story of Fendi with all of you. We purchased Fendi from, LeeAnn Rost, a breeder who owns Paw Patch Kennels in Venus, Texas. She also does business on the internet as toycuties.com. Beware!!This breeder sold us a puppy with a congenital spinal deformity called a hemivertebrae or butterfly vertebrae. LeeAnn is not honoring her health guarantee as stated on her contract about replacements or refunds. Fendi's little spine was actually bent at a 90 degree angle.We loved this little girl very much, whom we named Fendi Couture and did all we could to save her. She was very sick but she was sooo sweet. We starting having problems with Fendi's health just a few days after her purchase. Her shots were not up to date and she seemed to be having a lot of digestive issues. After many visits to the vet and thinking it was an upset stomach or just her being picky and trying to acclimate to her new surroundings, we never dreamed of how sick she really was. She seemed to drag her right leg around a lot and then in a matter of day lost use of both hind legs. We only had Fendi for less than 12 weeks and for seven of these weeks she was paralyzed in her hind legs and incontinent and paralyzed the last 6 weeks of her life due to her spine. We did call LeeAnn Rost the minute we found out about her spinal condition which was congenital (born with it) and she did agree to replace Fendi with a new puppy in the event of her death. So, after searching around I did find a surgeon that thought he may be able to save Fendi with a spinal decompression/stabilization surgery. It was a long shot that would cost us $3100.00 but if it gave her a chance at life we were willing to do it and we did. I called LeeAnn Rost and got her permission to go forward with the surgery. She was thrilled that we were doing this because if Fendi made it, she would not have to replace her or give a refund. However, Fendi's surgery was not successful, they were unable to stabilize her spine because she was so small (2 1/2 lbs) and her spine was very ridged. After surgery Fendi's spine continued to shift causing her ribcage to crush her lungs. It was completely heartbreaking! We loved her so much and it killed us to lose her. My 11 yr old son was absolutely devastated! This was his baby! The only way we had to console him was by reminding him that there was a new puppy waiting for him to love her, just as he had loved Fendi. However, after trying to contact LeeAnn several times about Fendi's death and the new puppy, she finally replied that she had decided not to replace Fendi or refund our money. This woman has lied and cheated an 11 yr old boy. She is in complete breech of her own health contract, but it really does not seem to bother her. These puppies that she is selling are all about the money. LeeAnn has no regard for puppy health issues, contracts, guarantees or for the families she is selling puppies to. I am suing her but her behavior should be against the law. LeeAnn Rost, toycuties.com, and Paw Patch Kennels in Venus Texas is bad news and if I can stop one family from this kind of heartbreak, then Fendi's death will not be in vain.

oh goodness:( i'm so sorry. I am living in Texas and posibily looking for another yorkie in the next year or so and I def wont even think twice about her! Your warning is already helping!

What was her reason for not honoring the guarantee?

Anyway, I would not want another puppy from the same breeder, I would sue for a refund.

I am so glad that you read our story. It was so heartbreaking to go through. We have now bought another yorkie baby girl from a wonderful breeder. Her name is Kim Wood, she is also in Texas. Wow what a terrible breeder!! I hope when you sue her you get every dime for that surgery too!! I hope the judge see's right through her..I noticed on her website that she referred to tiny or teacup alot..when a breeder charges more for a small puppy that in itself is wrong...that same puppy that weighs the least at 10 weeks could weigh the most at a year..geeez

I am so sorry to hear all of this..Bless you and your family..I couldn't imagine having this happen...You go get her! I'm half tempted to write her a nasty e-mail, but then again, she would probably sue me..Just remember hon, what goes around comes around....I don't think I would want another yorkie from this woman, but, I would sure sue her for what you paid for the puppy and what all the vet bills/surgery cost..you make sure you have that health gurantee!!!

What an awful person not to mention breeder if you can call her such a thing.
I hope you win your case and she is shut down somehow!

Your right it must be all about the money. Heaven know's she has no feelings
for the suffering she is causing her puppies to endure by not taking responsiblity for their health.

OMG how heartbreaking, i am soo sorry, under no circumstances would i want another pup from this &%$ so called breeder, i do hope you will go after her for a refund. I would contact whoever i had to to get my money back, thats awfull :(

Her reason is really unclear. First she stated that we were outside of her 72 hr guarantee. However, this was not a contracted health issue. It was congenital and her contract states that she guarantees the puppy is healthy at the time of sale or she would replace the puppy or refund the money. Neither of these things are happening and this poor little puppy was definitely not healthy since she was born with this. Some have even stated that this condition could have been caused by inbreeding. So, after bring this to her attention (which is iron clad), she now says she asked for the puppy back. Now, she talked to me and my husband both on separate occasions and never once asked for this sick little puppy back. Also, her contract never states anything about the return of sick/dying puppies. She is trying to get away with doing nothing. I am suing and believe without a doubt that I win.

Have you contacted the attorney general's office?? -- someone needs to shut this woman down. Ughhhhhh, these breeders who are filling the world with sick pups, and some go on to breed more sick pups.

I am so thrilled for you that you got another yorkie even though it will"never" take the place of Fendi! I have heard all good things about Kim Woods!Sorry I just read about the new puppy. Your son must be over the moon.What did you name her?

I am so so sorry to hear about the horrible experience you had...but I do hope that you sue and win b/c no one should have to go through that and no puppy derserves that kind of pain!!

Venus is the next town over from where we live and to hear that someone like that is selling puppies so close to us, makes me so angry. I do hope that she gets shut down and never breeds another puppy again!!

Our new baby's name is Princess Prada. She is something else! best of all, she seems to be very healthy. You are right though, there will never be another Fendi. We miss her so much, but our new baby has helped to heal our hearts. My son is sooo happy and he loves her like crazy! We all do! Thank you for your kind words it really means a lot to us.
