HELP...Puppy cries ALOT!!!! The smallest pup 2.5oz at birth now weighs 5.1oz. He's just a week old, and I'm not concerned about his weight but about his crying. He cries SO much more than the other 2 pups. They hardly make a sound, but it seems like he cries constantly. I am so worried for him. He's warm, I've got a heating pad under their bed. What else could this be??? Is there such a thing as a colicky pup? Thank you!! :aimeeyork :aimeeyork :aimeeyork |
Make sure the Mom is helping him go potty, or you can try to stimulate with a wet cotton ball. Also, it could be gas....is his tummy hard? |
....or maybe he's being pushed out of the way at feeding time. Make sure he gets his fair share of time on mom's better teats. I've heard that the ones closer to her front legs are not as good??? as the ones farther back. At any rate, just be sure he doesn't get shoved aside. |

try getting some replacement milk such as First Born....you can use an eyedropper to feed him, he will stop when he doesn't want anymore.....then be sure to burp him by gently patting him. I did that with mine, and it worked out great! |
I think you got some good advice, and I'll be praying for him. |
You could just put him on first to mom (without the others) so you'd be sure he gets his meal. |
poor baby ... hope he gets to be fed first!!! but since you are not worried about his weight, perhaps he is eating okay??? |
Doing Better!!!!! Well, baby bear appeared to have a bad case of gas or a tummy ache or something. He ate good from mommies back teat and is sleeping fine :-) He must have just had a gas bubble or something. Thank you everyone for your advise, prayers and concern!! I'll be attaching some photos soon!!!:aimeeyork |
Glad he's doing better. Sounds like he may have been hungry. Sometimes the other's will continuously push one aside that doesn't fight as much or isn't as strong. So he'll get a small meal (if any) and will cry really soon as a sign of hunger. And boy will they cry. But when they have a full tummy, they have such a nice sleep. FYI..If his tummy's really tight and he's pooped and eaten, mylicon drops (the ones for baby gas) work well for gas in puppies also. Gas can make them quite miserable also. Glad he's feeling much better. |
