Champion pedigree??? Should you be impressed by a sires pedigree if there is one or maybe two champions in the great grandparents? Would you call it the third generation? |

I am not impressed at all about the number of champions in a pedigree . I am more impressed about a dog having a very good conformation . |
pedigree No, it would not impress me...many champions do not impress me either when I see them in person. I will admit I am impressed by an all red 3 generation pedigree...had one once. I respect the work and dedication it took by the breeder. |
Not really. When the CH is that far back in the pedigree, those champion qualities have become so diluted that they really contribute little to the pup being born 4 generations later. More than likely, if you have someone trying to brag about it to you, then it's someone trying to convince you they have something more than what they actually have and someone who is tryinig to claim what someone else worked hard for years ago that they really had no hand in:) |

To me it would be better than no Champions in the pedigree |

I look at some of the breeders websites and these pedigrees are splashed all over the site with champs kind of far back and they act like they have something so special. I think the average person really doesn't know any better and they are impressed with it and think they are getting something special. I guess having this marketing ploy is a way to justify having such outrages prices. |

A pedigree when looked at by breeder, it is blueprint to assist them in their breeding program and not as an advertising ploy. When using it as such it assists the breeder in identifying each dog and their attributes. Knowing what is behind each dog, what each dog has produced. Dam & Sire contribute 50% of the genetic makeup; GrandSire and GrandDam 25%; Great GrandSire and Great Granddam 12%....anything beyond that contributes almost zilch.......that is unless a certain dog is repeated several times within the pedigree. |
