Molly had 7 puppies! Molly's puppies starded out at 10:48 a.m. and the seventh was born at 2:50 pm. we have 6 boys and 1 girl. The girl was born first! They all weigh around 3.5 oz to 5 oz. I'll have better weights later. The 7th puppy had a little trouble with the cord, he is a fighter though. But he needs a lot of prayer! |
7 pups wow. Thats a lot of baby's. will pray for the little one, hope mom and all 7 do great. |
worried about #7 His cord looked like a mess of intestine and the vet walked me through the cutting of the cord. The first 6 were ok. but since there was so musch cord still attached mama thought it shouldn't be there and chewed it too short and he started to bleed out. we got the blood to stop twice and it has been 4 hours since his birth. But he is just not as active as the rest. I'm not sure what to do next. |
Congrats on your HUGE Litter!. I will definitely pray for the 7th pup:heart79: |
Congratulations on the birth of your large litter. I will be saying some prayers that pup #7 will hold true to the phrase of "Lucky Number Seven". I'll check back later for further updates. |

Oh poor baby, :hands: Can you get him to the Vets office? Please keep us posted. |
# 7 #7 is with mom and staying warm. I will try to put him on to nurse again I'm just not sure how often I should try |
Oh poor little thing. did the momma eat on any of the intestines? |

Is he actively trying to nurse? If he is nursing but is not as active I would try moving the other 6 to a warming pad and letting him nurse alone. Do you have any nutri drops or nutrical. I would give him a few drops of nutri drops or a little nutrical. If he is not nursing you could get some puppy formula and feed him with a dropper. Best of luck to you. That is a large litter. You will have your hands full for the next 10 weeks or so. How big is the mother and father? |
It wasnt intestines the vet said. It was just a jumbled mess of umbilical cord. She did great with the first 6 but got confused with 7 and she was soo tired. It was weird though! nothing like the others. And he is still alive!!! |

At least she was polite enough to whelp in the daylight hours. |
Thank you! Thank you all for your best wishes. I'm going to sit with molly and babies. I'll be checking back later so if any of you have more advice for molly and me please leave me a message and I will be checking again soon. Thanks again! |
#7 is nursing!!! He started nursing on Molly when I put him on the nipple!:D |
CONGRATULATIONS....that is awsome! |
Congratulations... I've had moms chew the cord too close... and it seems like it bleeds forever... If it has stopped bleeding I am sure he will be OK. All the best to you and your lucky 7!! :aimeeyork :aimeeyork :aimeeyork :aimeeyork :aimeeyork :aimeeyork :aimeeyork |
#7 is so weak He just isn't strong. its 1:40 in the am and I just tried to give him some formula...he seems so weak to me. I hope we make it through the night! |
we lost our little #7 We lost #7 around 4:30 in the am. He tried to hold on. We all feel so sad today! Momma is eat well and is focused on the remaining 6. The vet called me today to check on everyone! Aside from our loss he said everyone else sounds like they are doing great. Molly is doing everything just as she should. Thanks again for all of your input! |

Wow, mom has her hands full.....So sorry to hear the one didn't make it...... Glad to hear the rest are doing well.... |
puppy update I wanted to give you all a puppy update! I have been very busy with these little guys as you can imagine. This is day 10 for us and everyone seems to be doing well. I have been supplementing this one little boy that we call Little Bit. He went from 4 oz down to 3 1/2 oz. I just couldn't stand the thought of loosing another little guy. I weighed him today and he is back up to his original 4 oz. His brother, however, went from 5 oz at birth to 12 oz. Is that normal? The only little girl we have went from 4 oz to 7 1/2 0z. Then our other 3 boys went from an average of 4 oz to 9 oz. I'm not sure if this is normal weight gain or not but when they all are nestled up to mom, Little bit really stands out. I had their dew claws and tails done on the 17th and the vet said that all the puppies looked great and Little Bit had good energy he just needed to be supplemented because the others push him off. I can't believe how attached my husband has become to these little guys. I knew I would but he suprises me. Anyway when you supplement your little guys what have you had the best luck using? what type of milk replacer? and do you use a bottle, syringe or tube feed? and at what temp. do you serve it? All the advice you guys can give is greatly appreciated! |
Their weight gain sounds good, should double in a week. I supplemented my little maltese (2 oz.) with Esbilac, 1 cc per oz. of body weight. I warmed it and let him suck it out of an eyedropper. The bottles flooded him. If you have the time I would recommend putting him on mom alone every hour. Their weight gain is so much faster with moms milk. Aspiration of the supplement is dangerous for these little guys. If mine had been able to nurse I definitely would have put him on her very often. Good luck. |
