Skeeter isn't mine, he belongs to a lady I work with. About the tie, they did this all in one day. They tied 3 times that day. It was Sept 4th. So when do you think I can expect the pups? |
Day 61 would be nov 4th. Thats the first tie for me, too. I got 3 ties. (10, 12,and 14th day of cycle) So mine for 61-63 days is the 4-6. So today is actually 46!!! That is close! Coco is so big this time I am thinking she took the first tie. We should be pretty close in whelping. R u all ready? Lori |

Whelping box Hemostat scissors washclothes-I rub and clean pups with these bulb syringe-if you need to suction pups at all scale Karo syrup-if pups are real weak you can give them drop of this. I actually never had to do this. Same for mother dog. notebook-I write down weight, time of birth, sex, and any distingushing marks unwaxed dental floss/thread bag to throw placentas away (make sure you count them) newspapers (i line the box with tons of layers, and then take the dirty ones out as needed.) heating pad bowl for water for mama I can't think of anything else. I don't actually have all my stuff together yet, but that is what I have/used last time. I feel like I am forgetting something, but don't know what. If I think of anything else, i'll repost. Lori IT'S DAY 48!!!!!!!!  |
Good God, I'm not ready at all! LOL What do you use for a whelping box? Did you actually make one? Can I use just a cardboard box with an area cut out for Ju to get in and out? I mean, do you actually put the dog in the whelping box when she starts because I can't see Juliet willingly going into a cardboard box! She is such a priss! She even hates stepping on grass outside!!! |
Bella too! 1 Attachment(s) Hope I'm not intruding, coming in to late but here is Bella at day 50. She's due October 30th. So looks like a couple of us will have pups around the same time.:D |

You know what, I do use just a cardboard box. My sister got me a couple from work. We cut the box down low for I can work in it. Coco didn't show too much interest in it before she whelped last time, but when she was ready I put her in there and she was great. She liked it. Then a few weeks later when pups get bigger I cut another box so they couldn't get out, and when they were about 5 weeks or 6, I put them in a playpen so I could always keep track of them and their messes. Coco would go to the playpen and cry when she wanted in to feed and cuddle. When they are nesting, I think they like the idea of the box. I sat on floor with her the whole time before and during labor. After she had pups, she never wanted to come out. I had to force her out to go potty and I feed and watered her in the box! Also, in my list I forgot camera and or video camera. We took both. It is day 50 today, we need to post pics!!! I'll try to later. Lori |
