Milk coming in...
 
Okay...yesterday I gave Diva's teats a little squeeze and saw milk come out...I didn't do it too hard so it didn't squirt out or anything..I just noticed clear/offwhite liquid surface....I did this to 3 of them. Does this mean she is really close? I thought the milk didn't come in until about 5 days beforehand and she's not due until Oct.20th so I don't want her to be too early...

Should I be concerned?

I just wanted to stop in and say I got to meet Lexie, Lucky, and Mom today:D Oh and not to forget Alpy :) the sweet ole guy.
They are all so sweet. I think Lexie will be a really good Mommy.(a Natural). It was so great getting to meet you all Rose.
Just let me know And I am here for you :)

That is great!!! Rose said she was meeting you today....Glad everything worked out...So does Lexie look like she's about to pop?
I wish I had an experienced breeder in my area!

She does look Pretty PG ;) And so sweet
btw I am not a experienced Breeder. I only had one litter. But I do know a few around here :) And I am here for her support .:thumbup:

Hi Lori It was great to meet you today too and I am looking forward to the day when I (and my babies) can meet your fur babies too. I will let you know when Lexie is in labor... hoping we can do well on our own, but it is very comforting to have someone with a little more experiance on hand just in case. I sure wish Yolanda could find someone near her to be her mentor. Any experianced breeder reading this from Brandywine, MD? I'm sure Yolanda would appreciate some knowledgeable help from you.

Oh and just a little correction: That sweet old guy's name is Alfie, not Alpy. For those of you who don't know him, he is our almost 14 yr old schnauzer/cocker??? mix. I'll post again tomorrow with results of Lexie's X-rays!:D

:aimeeyork :aimeeyork....4 PUPPIES! :aimeeyork :aimeeyork OMG, I am absolutely thrilled!:cheer: Since the vet palpitated a few weeks ago and said she felt two, I've been so hoping for at least 3; so when we saw 4 puppies on these xrays I was estatic. :yay_jump: Before they did the xray the vet felt her belly and said that the puppies were very active and in looking at the xray she told me that they all looked to be right around the same size and able to fit through the birth canal with no problems forseen. The one xray even shows a head near the pelvic area(tho she said it really wasn't actually in the birth canal yet), but it gives a good idea to the fact that it will fit through okay. So, we are at one week to go and counting.....stay tuned:D

No not kidding... If you look really close you can almost make out 5 heads.. they all look great :)

Hmmmm, where abouts is it? I might see where you're talking about, but not sure.
I'm curious.... does anybody else think they might see a fifth? If there are more of you saying that you maybe do see it, I'll be more apt to be looking for a fifth come whelping day. But 4 or 5, doesn't matter. I'm a happy, happy camper!:)

Ok I will try to explain where but I don't know how well I'll do with out being there and pointing them out...
I see three at the bottom and two close to the pelvic area :)
some times Like with mine the vet will be conservitive with what they say.. If there are only 4 an he says 5 then you would really worry when only 4 come out at birth..

I stole your picture and opened it in photoshop and circled where I see five heads. I enarged it first so I could see clearly. I am no expert, but it LOoks like five to me.

Wow Rose!! I mean, I don't wanna say I see 5 but I think that may be true....wouldn't that be a surprise....the unfortunate thing is what if 4 come out fine and you're waiting & waiting & waiting thinking there may be a 5th 0one????:confused: So you don't want to get your stress level up unnecessarily... I guess as long as she doesn't seem to be in distress, you should be okay....but whether it be 2, 3, 4 or 5...I'm hoping for a safe, smooth delivery for her and they're all precious!!!!

By the way, with the picture this size it is hard to see, but when it is expanded in photoshop you can see heads and skeletal features pretty well.

Well, if you say so. There is 4 no doubt about it. The 5th, which in my case would be the smallest circle at the top, looks to my untrained eye like just that; a circle you drew. I even saved your version to my computer and magnified it to 400% and 800%, still nothing. But what do I know. But it's 3 (yourself, Lori, & Yolanda) against one, in favor of there possibly being a fifth. Anybody else, I would appreciate what your expert or not so expert thoughts are on this. THNANKS!:)

Well Diva went to the vet today and they are seeing only 1 little puppy....I was kind of hoping for more than 1, at least 2:rolleyes: ....I know some 1st timers have smaller litters but given her decent size of 6.5 - 7lbs, I thought maybe we'd have more than 1...so unless 1 is hiding up in her ribcage, we're going to expect to give 1 set of furry little paws to pamper & love...In some ways I guess it's good too being Diva's first time it gives her time to practice her maternal skills & if it should happen again with more, she'd be well prepared! :D The vet also mentioned the only concern with having 1 pup is that there is alot of room for that 1 pup to grow a little bigger than it would with more pups taking up space...right now she said the pups head is already down, right above the pelvis in good positioning to come down the birth canal and so far it's head should fit through her pelvis with no problem...I'm hoping it doesn't grow too much bigger though..:rolleyes:

They did mention her milk had already come in which I told them I noticed that 2 days ago...her temp was 100.4

Nonetheless, I can't wait to meet the little one.

You may be right ... I am certainly no expert. I was more concerned about the BOTTOM one. lol.... She will have what she has no matter what. Good luck

Whew! When I replyed to your PM, I asked about this very thing before reading your post here. Hooray that the puppy is staying small enought to deliver okay. I'll be posting Lexie's 8 week belly pic a little later today; hoping to see one of Diva also.

Ok, that is where I thought you might be thinking you saw the fifth. I never would have thought it on my own though and still not sure that it is. Can't see any spine or ribs to go with it. Could be legs on the one???? Any more guesses from anyone? Is there an xray expert out there???

Congrats to you all, it is all very exciting. The x-rays are amazing!! I have always wanted a yorkie since childhood. A few months ago, I had to put my beloved Tye (springer spaniel) down....diabetes, cushings disease and tumors. My Boo (mix of yorkie and poodle) was lonely for a companion and I decided to go all out and get a purebred yorkie. Lexi is so soooo adorable!!! I would love her to have a litter but know that I have to wait unitl she is at least 18 months (she is 5 months). I enjoy very much your thread and am learning alot. IT is suspensful....like a reality show!! lol

Good luck and hope everything goes well.

P.S. to luvmyYorkies2. Maybe 1 is okay for now for the first time and for safety. You can focus all your attention on it and learn alot for the next litter!

Thank you for your good wishes and welcome to YT! Sorry to hear about the loss of Tye; it's hard to lose these babies we love so much. You are going to love having a pruebred yorkie! They are the best! The yorkie breed is my passion now after years of dreaming of owning one. After my first, I had to have another, we'll be getting a third sometime soon, and I plan to continue breeding about once a year. Stay tuned to this thread; we'll be here until our whelpings begin. I believe our plan then will be to start our own threads of the labor and deliveries! We'll take any help or support we can get!

Thanks ANL! I agree that having 1 healthy pup is a great time to focus on learning(me & Diva). This is both our first times so I'm very excited...I have to run back to work but will post pics of Diva's belly as it is today when I get back in tonight(some of you may already be sleeping). I work for a local abc news station & have to go back for the late night news broadcast. This little one sure has a lot of room as he/she has been very very active all day!!:)

Congrats to both of you. I am watching closely and praying for free whelping in both cases. My Davie had one puppy her first litter and he was just as special as our last litter of 7. The one puppy, his name is Sonny ended up going to live with my mother, and has become a very important part of the family. He looks just like his Dad, and has kept my Mom so busy that she is getting "younger" as her docter said!! I am so excited for both of you. You are just starting and I am at the end and homing my babies. I cry when each and every one leaves, I put so much into each one that I feel like I am giving part of me away. Good luck and keep in touch!!
