foster or co-ownership Hello! I have a question! When a breeder says that a puppy is available "to a foster or co-ownership" what exactly does that mean?? (The breeder is a show breeder.) Does the breeder or foster/co-owner pay vet costs, training costs, etc....? If a person would become a "foster" for a puppy, does that mean the breeder will take the puppy back later? Thanks in advance! |
i am sure most breeders have different rules for the co-ownership, so the breeder would be the best person to ask. If you decide to go through with it, make sure you get everything in a signed contract! |
co-own usually means the breeders name remains on the papers until the dog is finished, she doesnt share in expenses (all should be spelled out in a show contract) ...fostering is just that, you keep the pup for a limited amount of time or you keep it for ever (depends on how the contract is written) but you will never own the dog, you will foster perhaps a litter for the breeder or until the pup has matured. When fostering the breeder will usually pick up the vet expenses BUT she has the right to ask for that pup back at anytime. hope this helps |
I don't think I could ever do that, because I'd feel terrible if they took the pup back after I got attached to it. Why would someone do co-ownership? I mean what are the benefits? |
