How many heats do you wait until next breeding? Just out of curiousity....how many heat cycles do you wait until you breed your female again? I've heard skip a heat, breed two heats then sit out one. I thought this would be a good thread....:) |
yep i breed two skip one but most of all depends on the health of my girl that is first and for most if she doesn not seem to have bounced back to optimum health i waite |
I bred 2 and now I'm skipping 2 more heats. |
It depends on how often the gal heats. If she heats every 6 monthes than I would breed her every other heat. One litter a year seems enough to me. I have a gal that heats every 10 monthes and I'm trying to decide whether we should skip this one or not, she's healthy as a horse! |
I breed every other heat. |
good point it depends on how often they come in mine are all 8 to 10 months |
This is a very interesting thread. Thanks for posting. |

No problem, glad I did too! My girl Sassy goes into heat every 9 months. But I breed her every other heat. She's only had one litter so far ;-) |
There is no set rule.....first and foremost is the health & welfare of the female. Taking her to the vet after weaning of the last litter and prior to breeding of her next...will help determine whether she is physically healthy enough to be breed on back to back litters. |
