I love your little outfit that you have on your yorkie. Too cute. Where did you get it?

Is she still panting?? I think I would call the vet and see if maybe she needs to be seen. When Sunshine had her babies (c-section) she had been panting for a few hours and I didn't know that she was in labor. It ended up that the babies were too big and the vet told me that the panting is part of the labor. (Her last litter she didn't pant at all.... she just had them)

She is not panting anymore. She did some digging in the middle of the night last night and then fell asleep. She does not seem to be under any stress what so ever. Just resting. If she starts to look like she is struggling in anyway, I will be the first in line on the way to the Vets. Thank you for your personal story. Happy that you had a couple litters. Do you have any last minute advise?

Good luck on your puppies, I feel in a way I was lucking Lexie had a c-section so I didn't have to play the waiting game...can't wait to see pics....:D

I totally understand. The waiting game is not that fun. I feel so bad for Tinkerbell.

How exciting! Sounds like it could be any time now. When Sushine had her first litter, you would never even know she was in labor. No panting, no digging in her bed... nothing. She was just sort of antsy and followed me everywhere. I was sitting up on my bed with her watching TV and noticed that she was stretching her neck out a lot. So I said, I think it is time to go back in your whelping box. When I reached down to pick her up, she had one baby pop right out. Surprized the heck out of me. I think you are doing the exact right thing. Just watch her closely and don't let her go outside to potty without being right there with her. Good luck and can't wait to hear how she does.

LOL. Oh, you poor thing. You have a very strong yorkie to just not say anything like mom something is happening to me and I don't know what is going on. I think Tinkerbell is confused about what is going on with her. She looks at me with a questionable look like she ate something bad and does not know what to do about it.:lol tears LOL. Man will she be suprised when a baby pops out and wants to be taken care of. I think that she is going to be a great mother. I can't wait.

Update and Question
 

Everything is going fine. It seems that it is slow going, but I have her here at my desk with me at work. I have the camera ready and waiting for whenever anything happens. WooHoo. I am so excited. She is doing really good so far. How long should it be between the mucus plug and a puppy? At 1:43 she had her mucus plug coming out and then it burst. Then something else came out that looked like the mucus plug again and then it went back. Now it is 3:22 and she does not seem to be in hard labor anymore and just licking.

Thought I would ask.

HI Sharon, I wish I could help, but Sunshine never had a mucus plug come out. At least not one that I could see. She did have a mucusy discharge for a couple of days before she had the puppies, but it wasn't something that came out all at once. Hopefully someone with a lot more experience than me can tell you more. Good luck and keep us posted.

Was ther around a half cup of fluid when you say it burst? If it was the sac that burst you may be looking at a dry birth. Is there a bulge under her tail?

Okay well here is the long awaited update. I brought her home from work and she was having a hard time with the first puppy. I look at her back side and I can see these two little back paws hanging out.

So I called the vet the very first thing. Tinkerbell was pushing, but nothing was happening. I tried everything that they suggested including trying to pull it out with a contraction. Nothing worked. So we started to the vets. On the way there I look down and there is this black slimy ball. I break the bag and Tinkerbell helping and the tail starts to wag!!! It is alive. WooHoo!!!

We get to the vet and they cut the ambilical cord and give Tinkerbell a shot to help out. We waited and waited and nothing happened. They took her in the back room examined her again. The doctor came out and informed us that we needed to have a C-section otherwise we would lose the mother and the rest of the puppies. I told them to go ahead and do it.

45 minutes later I am informed that all 5 of the puppies are doing great and that Tinkerbell is doing fine. WooHoo!!! I have five new little yorkie lives in this world. They are so perfect. I will be adding many photos for everyone to enjoy.

I did get some film footage, but not what I would have hoped for. Which is okay with me. At least all the puppies and Tinkerbell are great and kicking. The coming months are going to be great.

Oh and anothing thing that I forgot. I think that we have partial party yorkies. We have a white patch of fur on, I believe 2 of the puppies chests.

Congratulations on your new puppies!!! Glad everthing went good and mom and pups are ok. To bad for the c-section, but at least you got in to see your vet. Some white on the chest is common in newborns and will fade to tan when they get older, unless the white is really big. Lynn
