help question!!!!!! a friend of mine just called to say her pregnant bitch who is due tomorrow is throwing up poop i dont have an answer for her i told her to hurry and call vet anybody know what might be causing this |
problem I am sure it is not coming from her bowel/colon...and some fermented kibble can sure smell like poop..and it is possible she has eaten some...a vet check with a pregnant bitch is never in vain...but I would not be too concerned if all else seems well. |
well she said it was for sure poop i called her and asked her again could she have a blockage of some kind against what i believe in this is a 3..5 pound girl i told her not to breed her that she is to small but i just spit out empty words if ya know what i mean |
I've never heard of this, but I hope she's ok. |
Sounds like a blockage. I would think a trip to vet would be her first and swiftest move. |

Rose some dogs will eat their poop and then vomit it back up:eek: ...if she is known to have a blockage, tell your friend to get to the vet, sounds like she may have some sort of worms, which can in turn infect the newborn pups... |
problem A blockage does not cause the stool to back up in the intestines, pushing it back into the stomach and back up the throat..think about it? This is a tiny bitch and I think she should have the vet take a look to be cautious...since your friend bred a 3 1/2 pounder, I hope she is in close contact with her vet anyway...I agree with Kim..have a stool check done for worms, to be safe. I think she is getting ready to whelp and many barf a few days prior.. |

I know I have seen/heard of it in people too. I don't know if it would happen in dogs but just the same I would be totally alarmed at anything like that and get her to vet ASAP. Can't hurt for sure. Hmmm, does she eat her poo? That could be it too. |
I hope your friend is on her way to the vet, I would not take any chances, shes already taking a big chance by breeding this small female. |
thanks You sure learn something everyday...I have never heard of it in a dog, but I guess it is possible...! |
well she called me about 6pm yestrday and she had an exray and she has three and the vet told her that she should be able to have them that her pelvis was large enough the vet thinks she ate poop she saw no blockages in her she is due tomorrow |
It's great to hear good news. I hope everything goes well with the whelping. |
I am happy that everything is okay. Good luck with the babies. |
Wowser I am glad I read this post!! I NEVER in a million years would've thought that something like that could even happen!! Wowser a blockage could do that?! I am simply amazed!! Glad your friend's baby is doing good! Let's pray for a safe delivery! |
