Kitty had pups 6wks ago. I am having a hard time weaning them. They aren't eating anything on thier own. The vet said to remove mom until they do. Any suggestions? |
I would suggest leaving mom in at bed time ...when you get up take her out and feed them...there monring, noon and evening meal, dont put mom back in until the evening again! this should work...make sure you have good weights on them before withholding mom this long... since their teeth should be in leave the dry baby puppy food in 24-7 ...feed their meals mixed wet puppy food. |
I agree. That's really good advice. |

Grind up some puppy kibble, mix it with soft puppy food or cottage cheese and some goats milk. Make it the consistancy of slightly lumpy tomato soup. Gently dip their chins in it and they will lick their chins. You may need to do it more than once before they figure it out. Make sure that you feed them in the morning before they are nursed. To suppliment them at night add a bit of baby rice cereal to puppy food and goats milk. The cereal will fill them and help them make it through the night. |
