Lucy's Temp
 
I took Lucy to the vet a week ago today. To find out her due date for the babies. Dr. Julie ( the vet) said she was due in a week to 10 days. To take her temp twice a day until yesterday and then start taking it three times a day. Her temp has been at 100.4 until three days ago and then it dropped to 99.2. But, this morning it went back up to 99.7 but, I took it this afternoon it is back down to 99.1. is it normal for the temp to flucuate like this?

My girls go up and down by a few degrees often then it drops around 97 and that is when I know they are getting ready.

Yes it is normal for it to go up and down a few times before she delivers.

Her yemp has dropped over night it is now at 97.7

She is following me every where but, when I sit she lays down to rest. She still isn't showing any signs of labor. I am sure she is ready to get this over with. I know that I am...lol

Still no labor but, her temp is now 97.3. Is there a too low temp?

Still no labor and her temp is back up to 97.7...In two hours it will be 24 that I took her temp and discovered that it had dropped over night. She is very calm and still resting. So I don't know what to think. The only signs she has given at all is she isn't eating very much and once in a while she will dig vigorilously at her bedding. She is drinking but, not eating.:confused:

If it has now been longer than 24 hours, I would call the vet.

I hope tho that she is in labor at this time and delivering puppies.

We have 3 new babies. Girl 2.8 oz @ 6:02 a.m; Boy 2.6 oz @ 8:17 a.m.; boy 2.6 oz 9:32 a.m. All started nursing instantly, all are sqeaking and moving; seem to be healthy. Mommy has been great with them. She is worn out. I hope we are done.

Well we are all doing good. I am still very tired and Lucy was starving. After a good meal of chicken noodle soup she and the babies have rested most of the day. I am so proud of her she is already a great Mommy. She hasn't wanted to leave them even to go out.
Max has done wonderfully also, he has been in to visit a few times and has been very sweet with the babies and Lucy.
I am so glad that it went so easily. The major problem we had was the last baby who was breach but, Lucy and I managed. She was a true champ, she didn't even cry while in labor. Lots of grunts, tho...lol
I will post more pics later when I get a little more rest.

Well mommy and babies went to the vet yesterday. They had their tails and toes done. She gave them all their once over and says that they are perfect. :D She says mommy did great and that she is doing good but, I have increased her protein and calcium intake so that she won't get too drained from feeding the babies.
The babies have all gained about .2 oz, the girl has actually gained a little more. But, she is alwas eating and if not then she is unhappy...lol
They are all very sweet and I am already in love with them...But, how could I not be they are so beautiful. Lucy is such a good mommy...they squeal and she is running to find out why. She finally started to leave them for a few minutes yesterday. Long enough to go out, eat or to come get loving from us.
I will post more pics this weekend when they are about a week old. Maybe they will have their eyes open. ;)

I always find myself going in to see the puppies ..just to make sure everything is okay. :)
I'm so happy for you .
Our puppies eyes opened a little later than usual, I think. They didn't open until they were two weeks old. I know that everything I have read says they should open between 8-10 days, but ours have never opened before the 2nd week.

Thank you all. It is a wonderful time. I am so grateful that all went so well. I can't wait for their eyes to open.
I need know how soon I can give her a bath...She is very itchy from all the mess and smells stinky. Poor baby.

congrats on the babies.. you can bathe her now, use a very gentle shampoo and rinse totally...blow her dry and rerinse the teats with a warm wet cloth before placing her back with her babies.

The babies are growing...Our girl just seems to get bigger every second...But, she hollars if she isn't on the teat...lol...I think is she is going to a very big girl...the boys look like they will be small though.
