Spotting I have noticed yesterday and again this morning that when my girl who had puppies by C-section 3+ weeks ago pees there is a tiny spot with probably a coupld of drops of blood on the pad in the middle of the yellow pee puddle. If the urine was reddish or discolored it would probably be a uti wouldn't it? But the urine is still normal color. There are just a few tiny spots of red in the middle. Could this be coming from the vagina? What do you think this could be? The doctor said she would have a dark discharge for several weeks, maybe even until weaning because of the C section and because there was one retained placenta (he said it was stuck good and would have caused more damage to try to remove it, but it would resorb). But the dark discharge has been gone for about a week now. Any ideas? |
Not sure hon but we want to send prayers Pip's way. Hope it clears up soon. |

Thanks! |
I think thats normal. I just had Frenchie C-sec 1 wks ago and yesterday she had dark goopy blood discharge. If I remember right my Yorkies can have a tiny bit of blood for quite a while after the pups are born. If she is eating and her temp is normal, and she is acting normal I would say don't worry. I AM NOT A VET so a phone call to your vet to make sure could ease your mind.:) |
you could get clavamox (sp) anti botic from your vet. It's what I use if they still have a discharge 2-3 weeks after giving birth, it doesn't make it go away, I use it just to make sure there no infection. or something going on. |
spot It is not usual to spot a bit for weeks when urinating. Best wishes |
Thank you all for your responses. I was just wondering because I hadn't seen this before. The black discharge had been gone for a week and then this started and it was bright red, so it had me worried. But it hasn't happened again since yesterday morning. I will just keep an eye on it. She looks and acts fine. Thanks so much for the reassurance! |
We are having the same thing with Lexie, who also gave birth 3+ weeks ago to 7 puppies. The vet said that she could do this for up to 6 weeks. Now, since yours had a c-section, I hope it is the same "normal" thing, but it threw a scare into us the first time we saw it on the pad also. Keep me posted if it continues and I will do the same. |
