I thought she said they were in WV, if so that link is not the right kennel. This is the one for WV http://www.maplewoodkennel.com/index.html I do not know them I do live in the same state but I think they are about 4 hours from me? Not really sure. I just wanted to provide the correct link. Deana Prestigeous Yorkies |

response to question about maplewood kennel Please be very careful when purchasing a puppy of any breed from Maplewood Kennel West Virginia. I unknowingly bought sick puppies from her. At first they seemed healthy, but within their first birthday, they were diagnosed with genetic glaucoma. One died during surgery to have her eye removed. One has had her right eye removed and we have been advised that it won't be long until her other eye will have to be removed as well. A third one is borderline at this time. Our vet advised it is only a matter of a short time before her eyes will have to be removed. I cannot describe to you the emotional and financial devastation. It has affected several families. Our vet has assured us over and over that the results from dogs this young having the severity of this problem are from BAD breeding. The puppies are all half sisters having the same father in common. I do not recommend this breeder for any breed of puppy whatsoever. We are in the process of trying to close her down. We have reported her, and are taking legal steps to try and protect other buyers from the heartache and devastation we are going through. And as a side note, one of our puppies was doing what Rhonda called reverse sneezing. It turned out, she lied. It was the beginning of seizures. |

Seriously... Hi, I am from Mass and I am here to say that I recieved a Puppy from Maplewood Kennel in West Virginina and they are wonerful people. They really care for their dogs and treat them all as part of the family. My husband and I traveled 10hrs from Braintree to see Rhonda's Yorkie puppies and we were very impressed. We saw the parents along with all of her other babies and they were all great healthy dogs. They also had all of the vet records for the babies available for us to see and her kennel lisense and AKC certiricate that said they are an approved kennel by AKC standards. As for the lady who "said" she had her dog's eyes removed...go seee another vet because that is a last resort thing that they only put into effect when the dog is very old and the draining does not wok anymore (talked to my own vet about it!) I suspect a little lieing probably jealous or something. And as for the only local people saying good things, WELL DUH!!!!!!!! The local people would know the best, they are around the family 24/7 and really socialize with them, I would think those would be the first people to talk to. Any time you buy a puppy, be cautious about anywhere evern in the classiest kennels that only breed dogs for show and hand the dogs food to them on a silver platter, can have problems, but don't only believe the bad in people. Talk to the kennel owner themselves then go by how you feel about them. |
