We are expecting a litter today but so far nothing, do dogs usually "nest" at night, she is Laid back but she has been this way for about a week or so I took her for several 15 min. walks today. she is eating very little kibble but won't turn down a chicken stick for nothing....LOL!!! her temp has been lower since day 58ish it is now 98.7 and has been around that for at least the past 3 times i've checked it. I know it just takes patience but I'm running out..... and really could use some sleep.

Yes, they do seem to prefer to keep us up and have their wee ones at night. Hang in there. Maybe you and your hubby can take turns doing whelping watch. I say that but mine just goes to bed, he knows I'd never be able to sleep anyway.

Still nothing, her tummy seems smaller today. I took her out for several walks thinking this would help move things along and she made a small yelp outside I thought this may be the start of labor later last night i turned her over to see the babies move and noticed her little boobies were flushed, then discovered a bee sting, the yelp was from a being sting.... poor baby. will this affect the babies? so far she isnt showing any signs of distress or anything she is her normal LAZY self.

just hang in there. let me ask you, when did you start counting the days? from the 1st tie or 2nd?

LOL about the sleep but let me tell you it doesn't get any better once they are here. We just had a litter early Tuesday morning and its like having a new baby in the house. Every peep they make I am out of bed to make sure everything is okay.

Best of luck and all I can say is they do it when they are ready!

a lot of people count 63 days from the 2nd tie. their temp can drop then spike back up.

so i am holding a baby and trying to type so my brain is fried...LOL the second tie was 6-4 that would make her due when?????:confused: :confused:

if we go on her first tie, she is due aug 5th
2nd tie ...aug 7

Well they are here!!!!!! and a bit early in fact... I am wondering if they will make it. here are the stats


1. sex- male time-1:50pm weight 2.0oz
2. sex-male time-2:33pm weight 1.5 oz
3. sex-male time-3:16pm weight 3.0 oz
4. sex-male time-3:47pm weight 2.0 oz

All puppies are doing ok the smallest one isn't eating good but i plan to supplement him. i had to put forth some effort to get him to breath. any suggestions on helping these babies survive? i will post pics soon.

Congratulations!!! I would just watch him close and supplement him like you said. Tiny, sweet babies. Can't wait to see the pics. Praying they will all do well, keep us posted!!! :)

Congrats on your new lil ones. I'm sure they're adorable. Did you try holding on to the little one so he can latch on well. Sometimes when they are so small they don't latch on well because they let go of mom's teat with every little movement she makes. Wish you the best.

Congratulations! They sure are tiny, keep them good and warm. I'd put the one with the nursing problem up to bat first. Go ahead and squeeze some milk from one of the bottom teats, open her mouth and put it in for her. Let her get a good meal then put the others on.

I feel like i am bothering her too much, i am always going in and looking, the least one figured out the nursing thing, he seems to be doing well, i have a heating pad under the welping box on low, before i had it on high to get the box warm quick, Tootsie(mom) is still panting is this normal? I took pics and then my battery died to my camera, i only got 2 pics so i will charge the batteries and give it one more shot! what is a good thing to put on them to tell them apart? i had ribbon but it keeps coming untied.

I've been told it's normal for them to pant to an extent (and have seen maltese do it) It's warmer than normal and mom's going to pay, by coat alone. Be sure the pad isn't underneath her and that she has plenty of water. She has plenty of stuff going on with her uterus shrinking right now. Be sure she's getting plenty of calcium, ice cream, or tums will do.

And Lexie's are 2 weeks and I still jump at any squeel!! She will deliver when she is ready. You just need to be patient, I know it is hard.

I put differint bright fingernail polish. My neice even had yellow. Layered thick, you could see it really well. I put it on the hip for purpose of weighing, it was easier for me to see them. (In specific I was tubing and needed to grab a certain color gal and she was gaining rapidly).
