Limited registration Hi to everybody from sunny Spain. It's scorching here!:shade: I read a thread in this section about somebody who had bought a puppy with a limited registration contract and wanted to reverse it because she wanted to breed. It got me thinking that that's so different from Spanish registration procedure. There's no such a thing (at least as far as I can tell) as limited registration, so any puppy you sell either pet or show quality can be bred from or even shown. I'd like to have your views on this and whether you have heard or have had the experience (like the one a mentioned before) of having people asking your to reverse the contract or worse, that is breeding with their dog without registering the puppies, because at the end of the day there's nothing one can do to stop somebody from breeding whether registered or not. You are right, there are some people that no matter how well you interview them, are determined to lie to you and go ahead and breed it anyway even if they promised you they wouldnt. Unless you have a clause that says you can confiscate the dog and all of the offspring or fine them a huge amount of money, I dont think there is much you can do about it. That is why I am thinking spay/neuter is the only way to go. Seems like you cant trust hardly anyone these days. |
I guess I've lucked up...of the puppies that have gone out my door and been placed, I have confirmation that they have all been altered, except one...and that's the one that still lives with me.:p Sadly, I agree with the above poster. It seems like spay/neuter BEFORE placing a pup is the only way to be certain that the dog will truly be only a pet. Peoples word...and even contracts, apparently...don't seem to be worth too much these days. |
I'm seriously considering spay/neuter before they go out the door. Even if your contract says that the dog will be conviscated or they will be fined you have to find the dog first and take them to court to collect the dog or the money. Who wants to spend all of their time in court, so much stress! It's sad that people will lie or ignore the rules but there are some great actors out there and they want something without putting in the work for it. |
