my chloe is pregnant not expected help! my chloe is 1 1/2 and is only in her second heat. we went on our honeymoon and left her with a friend who has a yorkie. she is pregnant now and i have never done this. i planned on breeding her but not this soon because i have a 6 month old daughter. she is 4 1/2 lbs. i have looked on the internet for some websites to tell me what to do when she has the puppies what to expect during all of this and there isnt alot. how long will she carry them what do i do after she has them or while she is having them? i dont know what to do and i dont want to lose my baby girl over somthing that could be prevented. any information would be great. thanks in advance |

Welcome, she'll be due around 63 days from your honeymoon. The search button is will become very valuable. More than likely things will go just fine, but you should know how to prepare by researching....keywording whelping lists, and such. Good luck |
Hi. I don't know anything about breeding but I do know that I read that the father has to be smaller then the mother or it could be dangerous for the female. How much did the father weigh? Best of luck. Elaine |
What is the father's size? Also - make sure you get his pedigree information so you can register the liter. A friend of mine was recently shocked to discover the stud she paid to breed her female to was NOT AKC registered after all. She was STUNNED and now horrified.....she had actually sold a male puppy to this woman a year ago and expected THAT puppy to be the dog. When they got to the vets it was a different dog and the lady just said "Oh this dog has had better success" or something like that. Now the registry doesn't line up and it's really bad. Anyway - not trying to ramble - just venting. I'm sure your sweetheart will be fine. Call the vet soon to find out about any adjustments in diet, etc. Keep us posted!! Angela <>< |

Free whelpers are bitches that can deliver without a c-section. Their measurements should be 3 large fingers from anus to vulva and 2 large fingers from pelvis bone to pelvis bone. Is the father from a line of small dogs? Do you have a breeder friendly vet? If not I would definitely start shopping for one. A few good books would help, available for reference. You'll be on the fast track for learning so get in as much education as you can. Breeding these little dogs is often not as simple as people think it will be so prepare yourself. This is a good place to start. |

chance was my first baby we had him a lil over a year and he got hit by a car. it was a year last week. i couldnt bring myself to get on and i finally did the other day and changed my pics. but anyways he was 11 lbs and she was only 4. the male she tied with is almost 6 but they have the same body structure |

Suki is having her first litter and is due August 10th, I have found the book : the joy of breeding your own show dog" by Anne seranne. It is perfect. I also have several other books but found this one to be the best JMO. Good luck with your new babies....It is true what everyone is saying it is very hard work to make sure everything is just right your female has the nurition that she needs, you have all the items that you need for the delivery, etc... and that all will be well, But it is well worth it!!!! You could not have found a more perfect forum to get allt he help that you need. I dont know what I would do without everyone here in the breeder forum. |
i agree everyone has gave me great advice and i feel much better now after reading thru the debbie jensen website. i dont work since i stayat home with my lil girl im just hoping all of them togather is not to much to bite off. thanks guys |
