Emergency Tube Feeding Question I just tube fed my little 2 oz. Rudy the very same way I've done all night, but this time some started to come out of his nose! He also then sounded congested. What have I done? The vet said if he makes noise as the tube is in then it isn't in his lungs. He was making squeaking noise. Please tell me I haven't done something bad to make him die? |
If you did it the same way as taught, all the way down to the mark on the tube, allowing him to swallow it down, you haven't done anything wrong. I pinch the tube before bringing it back out. Likely you haven't done anything wrong. If you have a bulb syringe you could use that gently in his nose and throat to be safe. |
tubing Go slow and try a bit less milk..good luck |
Make sure you go up to the mark an the tube - if you go up to the mark you are doing fine and if it was put in the lung it wouldn't go up to that mark. My vet told us when we had to do tube is that you may get some in the lungs, but no matter what happens...you are doing what you must and the puppy would die for sure if you don't do this. He thinks that the what might happen far outweighs what 100% will happen if you don't tube feed. Good luck and I know how stressful it is to tubefeed. |
