Whelping Pudding Recipe I just did a search on whelping pudding and came up with a few different combos. Was wondering if you could post yours that you use and the reason why you use it. (its main purpose) I would appreciate it !!! (and I'm sure others will too!!!) Thanks so much !!!! |
This is the recipe that I got from Mardelin last week. I also use if for weaning pups Post Whelping Pudding 16 oz. water 1 pkg. Knox Gelatin (micro. to disolve) 15 oz. can evap. milk 2 tabls. vanilla yogurt 2 egg yolks 2 tabls. white corn syrup mix all ingred. in bowl let set in fridge until thickens. Spoon out as needed. Here's another to give to mom immediately after whelping 1 can of goats milk equal parts of water 1 egg yolk 1 table spoon of Karo syrup. Helps to get her strength back. Place a bowl right up to her and she'll lap it right up. Both of the recipes help with milk production. __________________________________________________ __________ Good Luck!! I am having a hard time finding goat's milk here. I am still on the look out though. Keep up posted on what is happening! __________________ |

Breny the ones IMckn posted are mine. The top one I love because it causes no adverse reaction, diarreah, etc.....feed it throughout nursing to help milk supply. Also, use if for weaning puppies and/or encouraging wee ones to eat. The bottom one I use right after whelping to help electrolites and give mom some engery, also helps with milk supply |

I know they have goats milk at Kroger, right next to the evaporated milk cans :) maybe check there if you have one near you? |
I raised my Tia on this recipe, which sounds simular to the post whelp recipe Evaporated milk or Goats milk 1 table spoon Karo Syrup 1 table spoon real mayo 1 egg yolk 1 cup whole yogart I also added nutrical and sometimes added honey as she got older. I played with the ingredients too as the time went by, sometimes adding 2 whole eggs, more yogart...etc.... Would this be a good after whelp recipe too? This is what Tia ate until she was almost 4 months old (she had a cleft palate) |
Thank you !!!!! I appreciate you posting it for me! Quote:

Breny, I don't like honey because of the bacteria and Mayo has a possibility of bacteria also. NutriCal can also cause daibitis and can throw a pup into hyperglycemia |
So would my recipe (minus the honey, minus the nutrical, minus the mayo) be ok for a post whelp for the mom? |

breny easier is this one I use it with every whelp and at least the first two weeks of post whelp instant vanilla pudding 2 cups whole milk 2 egg yokes stays in refer for about 3-4 days |

How much whelping milk and how often? I have a female yorkie who gave birth 8 days ago. My vet said to give her 1 TUMS with calcium a day. I bought "peppermint" TUMS by mistake....I know, I know. I was looking here and found the whelping milk formula. Have everything to make it but I don't know how much to give her and how often. Can someone tell me. |
