How Much Is To Much Weight?? Hello, below is Tif's weight gain, I took her to the vet today cause she gained like almost a pound in 1 day, I wanted to make sure she was okay. Take a look @ her weight and see what U think, Vet wasn't worried about it at all. So how much is to much weight to gain? Do they really gain a lot the last few days or ?? How much did she weight before she got pregnant ? |
The puppies start putting on their weight in the last 2 weeks. So yes, they will have a lot more gain in the end. |
weight gain My Tea' just delivered 6 pups a week and a half ago..she started out with her weight around 5 1/2 lbs and ended up DOUBLING her weight by the end! She is now skinny as can be, maybe thinner than she started as the pups eat so much (now I give her approx. 6 sm. meals a day w/ cottage cheese, puppy chow, cheese, yogurt, etc.). Good luck to your girl, sounds like she's doing well:) Debbie Tea' +6 |
I wouldn't worry about it either. She's just a healthy momma. Whatever you do, don't withold food from her. Good luck! |
My vet said it is not unusual for my female to double her weight before she delivers. She is only 3 1/2 weeks right now and has gained 2lbs ! I would not worry either. I agree dont withhold any food from her, she needs all the nutrients and protein she can get for those puppies ! Good luck keep us informed ! |
She is around 10 lbs normal weight, I keep food out ALL the time for ALL my Yorkie's NONE of them will let a empty bowl sit here, they throw it on the floor and bang and clang it until there is food in it...Once foods in it, they may not eat it right then but they GOT to know it's there...Cracks me up, They will carry that bowl to their bed! LOL! Hugs, Lee & 9 |
