Registration Color For New Pups
 
Hi,

OK..now the babies are here, but one question I can't find an answer to is this...

When the pups are born and usually when they leave for their forever homes, they still have that puppy coat color (my Tea' changed a lot later).

So how do you pick which AKC registration color..there are four to choose from????

Any help from experienced breeders would be very much appreciated!!

I asked something like this also a while ago, I wondered that also, if all the pups have the same color coat as pups but the coat could lighten up dramatically, then how would you know what to mark early on? ...Should you wait til their about 1 yr old?...What if the parents are quite different in color, couldn't it go either way for the pup? ...Or possibly could they take after a Grand Parents color? ....Curious also :)

most breeders breed two of the same color so that there is no question.
what colors are the sire and dam?

what cuties....just from looking at the photos, they look tan/blue. what does their registration say?

when the puppies get about 8-10 weeks old, their color may break. you should be able to tell then. if not, let us see the photos and we can help you out.

Tino's registration says Blue & Gold I believe I would have to double check~

a lot of people just put the mother's color on the paper.

since the both look like the same coloring, i would think it would be safe to say gold/blue.
