Walking Down Stairs Hi! Can somebody please tell me at what age puppy can walk down stairs and jumps from sofa? My puppy is now 5 months old! |
It all depends on each dog...mine was running and jumping down the stairs from about 3 months...because when they are in the housebreaking process...i don't carry them to the door nor down the steps because i want them to get the sense of direction of where they can do thier business...so i would call for them and they will follow me out the door and down the 2 or 3 steps outside into the grass...hope that helps... |
i would have to say if they are less than 5lbs at full growth, i would not let them jump off a sofa. i would get stairs for them to safely go up and down. it is very bad for their back legs to do the jumping. |
My girls will both jump off the sofa and beds but will not go down the stairs. Sissy began going both up and down the stairs at about 16 weeks old, but shortly thereafter she had a major tumble down the stairs and has not even tried them since (she is almost two). Angel started doing stairs almost immediately after coming to us at 13 weeks, but she had two tumbles and will now not go down at all (7 months). I think since Sissy won't go down, Angel just follows her lead. |
Dior was running down the stairs before 4 months. Diezel started going downs the stairs around 4 months. They both try to jump off the sofa but i do not allow it. |
Hi! Thank you! I think you did not all understood me. My puppy would like to go up and down stairs, she jumps on sofa till she was 3 months, but I don`t let her to jump down of sofa or walking down stairs, becouse I heard it is not good for puppies!!!! |
Well my Betty is around 13wks, and she has no problem going up and down the stairs, she is eyeing up the sofa but cant make it yet.lol. My older girls can do both no problem. There is no way i could stop them from all the jumping they do, they are just to fast at it. I actully think that all the jumping for our yorkies do is second nature to them. |
