Usually when the temp drops and goes back up she should be delivering. She may not have strong enough contraction.Uterus can get distended with alot of pups also and her age is a factor.Hope all goes well with her and her babes on the way.Usually when the temp makes that big drop you want pups within 24 hours. Some vets will not wait that long and others go over. |
the vet checked her and said her cervix was still closed. they wanted to keep her for the day to watch her, but I brought her back home because being in the back with all the other dogs and cats would put her under too much stress. the pups are moving good, her temp was 101 when she was at the vet but its going back down now. I just took it and it was 99.6. The vet also saw the same slimy clear discharge and just said it would be soon. I hope so because shes miserable! |
Good to hear,no dialation as of yet and puppies are moving, sometimes they make the drop in temp it goes back up then it drops again for whelping, I would of brought mine home also, they will be more content in their own home, and when close to whelping I like to keep the atmosphere nice and calm and quiet.Vets are noisy, and ill dogs and cats are kept.( I would leave mine if my vet thought it neccesary though) |
if it would have been necessary to leave her for medical reasons then I would have left her. but they wanted to watch her....i feel better watching her myself....shes going to make my hair turn grey before she has these pups!! |

good luck!!!! If you have any questions call stacy aka Sylvan who gave you her number up on top. She's Excellent and can help you out. |
Good luck! We're all on babywatch with you! |
that poor little momma. i feel so badly for her. i hope this whelping is uneventful and goes well. if she has been bred many times, maybe she will do it all on her own. *** remember**** stay by her side most mommies whelp on their own without any help you do not need to do everything that is on the debbie site the mommy will chew the cords.....watch for her not to chew too close or if another baby is coming out, then try and cut it w dull sizzors, remove the baby and set under a lamp in a container w a towel she will eat the sac so don't worry about opening it for her unless she does not i really hope all goes well. i will be chk'g in to see good luck |
ive got the er vet number and the vet has a pager. Ill def call sylvan if something doesnt feel right. Shes had many litters. The lady basically ran a yorkie puppy mill. When we got kiley she had never even been in the grass before!! She acted like she had never been held and loved on or anything!! She has spent the entire almost 8 years of her life in a 3x3 cage having pups. It was sad!! Shes much better now, shes cute.....when we take her outside she rolls around in the grass on her back with her big belly making her loose her balance. Shes still scared around strangers, but shes great with us. |
temp is 99.5, if this holds for 12 hours or drops lower then we are close right?:animal36 |
Seriously, feel free to call at anytime. I don't mind the phone ringing at 3 am if I can walk you through anything. and OT, Hi Kellie! Kiss Morganface for me. |
thanks, i call you if i need quick help with her. I dont want to bother you though. shes resting right now. I really feel like i need to be here when she is having them....she makes me nervous being so old. |
