Question about Studs... Hi, My question for all you knowledgeable Yorkie Lovers is........... I recently bought a male stud for my girls to breed with.. He has been living in a kennel his whole life and is not potty trained.. I think I can work that part out.. But what about him marking everything in sight>? Do you have any suggestions? He is a real doll and has a great pedigree I just need help in this area.. So any help would be greatly appreciated. Joy :animal-sm |
You can use the belly bands . What are the bloodlines in his pedigree . |
Fairview and Durrer are his lines.. He is a little dream boy.. He is already getting use to being spoiled.. Can he be trained not to hike his leg on everything?? That may be a stupid question, but you dont know if you dont ask. Thanks, Joy |

Sorry to hear about your little guy and his "marking" I would doubt that you will ever get him trained but belly bands will work. The fact that he marks is exactly why we recommend a pet not be used as a stud..It can ruin a great pet...Those lines are great, BTW. |
Thank You!! :) Thank you for all the responses.. I really do appreciate the help as I am brand new to the breeding portion of this.. I know that they are great lines and it is my goal to breed quality Yokies... I have had my fair share of looking for the standard Yokie and breeders who really care about their program.. I want to set a presidence in our area... At least that is my great hope... With such wonderful advise from this group I know I will be well informed... I appreciate you all!! Joy |
stud He will most likely never stop marking..and that is okay..he is a stud, doing one of the things a stud is born to do LOL Get BELLY BANDS, lots of them and enjoy him as your pet and stud dog. |
Pat Thank you again for your input... I never thought that I could enjoy a little guy that went around hiking his leg on everything.....BUT............ with the belly bands (life saver) He is a doll and I love him tons... Blessings......... Joy |
Hi I also have a male who is not fixed.....Can someone explain what belly bands are and how you are supposed to use them? |
Belly Bands They are like diapers for the babies.. a straignt band with velcro attached.. I just read where you add a mini pad to the inside.. Funny... I was thinking of doing that.. Right now Im using the tops of old socks.. LOL.. It seems to be working pretty well.. Im going to get out the sewing machine later and make my own.. Ahhh stylish......... Joy :yorkiesar |
can anyone give me a website with belly bands? |
Belly Bands I perfer this type.... www.designerdoggie.net The way the velco is attached is important. If the maker attaches it to the end, short end to end, they do not always fit snuggly. I like them the way Laura makes them...the velcro is attached in a big wide strip and can be adjusted for belly sizes...and thinkness of the mini pad you put in the middle. |
I make some. They are listed in my ebay store. The link is in my signature. |
Belly Bands Looking for Belly Bands! Go to http://shop.unitedyorkierescue.org/listings.cfm?cat=15 and it all goes to help yorkies in need. I have to use a thicker pad though 'cause my guy can peeee. |
I guess my guy was not told to mark his area,we have never had a problem, even when she comes in heat he knows what is coming up,yet he never has marked in the house,he just goes in the same spot in the yard..gee I am lucky, but I am going to accept him with his marking defect..love him my Kiko |
