MYSELF AND ANOTHER YT MEMBER BOUGHT PUPPIES FROM A BREEDER IN KY WHO SEEMED TO HAVE VERY NICE PUPPIES NOW I AM IN SHOCK I THOUGHT SHE BRED ONLY QUALITY YORKIES AND NOW I FIND SHE BREEDS YORKIE POO'S BRUSSELS AND THE YORKIES . SHOULD I BE WORRIED ABOUT THIS AND THE MALE SHE IS USING FOR THE FATHER TO THESE YORKIEPOOS IS THE FATHER TO MY PUPPY WHO IS CHAMPION SIRED JUST DOESNT SEEM RIGHT TO ME THAT SHE WAS ALLOWED TO BUY A CHAMPION SIRED MALE TO BREED TO POODLES WOULDNT JUST A REGULAR YORKIE HAVE BEEN GOOD ENOUGH IS THIS A RED FLAG FOR THIS BREEDER

I'm always suspicious of people who breed multiple breeds, but I tend to think that two breeds are fine. I noticed that she has about 15 Brussels and 15 Yorkies? Are those all her breeding dogs?? That seems like a lot, I don't know how she could keep 30 intact (unneutered/unspayed) dogs together without them being in some sort of kennel. Plus you say she has poodles too, which would mean over 30 dogs. Did you go visit her yourself and everything seemed okay?

Well it's somewhat suspicious that she is using a Ch. Yorkie, but is the poodle also a Ch. Poodle? She might just want to breed the best to the best, and then she has less to worry about health problems, etc. I'm not sure about breeding different breeds of dogs together though, sorry.

Not being rude or mean, but as a breeder yourself, shouldn't you have checked her out carefully?

well i went on other people's advice about her and i talked to her on and off for a year thought i could trust what she told me you know how that goes i dont know how many poodles she has and i dont know if they are championed sired as well she would not let me meet her at her house (redflag) and the other yt persons were shipped she does not show i do know that she just always told me her dogs were just yorkies with great pedigrees and i was looking for a show hopefull that she told me she had and when you trust someones word you take it as that it was only when the other yt member and myself started digging did we find all this out she trusted her as well and we were surprised that she had several different breeds
i know i would not sell a champion sired male to be bred to poodles
and she always told me she only had a few litters a year and that they all live in the house with her could you imagine 30+ dogs in your house i guess that is why she doesnt allow people to her home

well the other yt member checked vet ref and personal ref but i feel you are only as good as your word

Did she show you the pedigrees? Have you gotten the AKC papers, and did she give you a health guarantee/contract? Did she check the health of the parents before breeding? If she did all that, and your Yorkie seems fine I wouldn't be too concerned. Have you taken your Yorkie to the vet to get him all checked out?

I'm worried about the sheer number of dogs, I mean 30+ dogs, on top of a few litters a year? Honestly I love dogs but I couldn't handle having 30+ in my house with me!

Ohh, the dog is Ch. SIRED. I thought you meant he was an actual champion himself. Ch. sired, I think would not be such a huge deal, just because he is champion sired does not mean he is a ch. himself. However, if he was sold as a pet, that means he should've been sold with a limited contract which doesn't allow him to breed. Something seems off somewhere. If he was sold as potential show quality, but was never shown, that seems equally weird because any breeder who sells a dog with breeding rights would check up on the owner, I would think. Maybe she bought the dog from a BYB, and is lying about being Ch. sired?

Again, have you seen the pedigrees of the dogs?

oh no i have dixie's pedigee and her papers and all that is on the up and up she purchased the ch sired male from prestigeous yorkies who does show
i just dont know if she was aware that her dogs would be used for cross breeding and i was sold this girl as show quality and she is but she is not going to get anywhereclose to the size i need her to be she never told me she was the smallest out of 4 and that she was the runt i am just amazed at the thought that she is breeding so many dogs and i never could figure out why she would not let me see the parents or visit her house and we only live a few hours apart

Rose, why don't you post her name? That is what the breeder review forum is for. To warn people away from her or give her a good review. I also talked to this same breeder several times about a female. I can see now what a huge mistake I would have been making. i would post her name in a heartbeat.

I also would not want to breed my champion male to a female who's dad is champion sired but used to cross breed i just feel as though i have been lied to and i am not to happy at all and neither is the other yt member

Hello Rose and everyone, I am the other YT'er I just want to say that I did check references and talked to her vet on several occasions and never Knew she bred anything other then the yorkie , I thought I had done such good reasearch and talked to her so much and before purchasing..
Yes the pedigree and the AKC papers all match but I am wondering if we should get a DNA because our pups don't look alike (not saying that couldn't happen) !!!:animal-pa

WELL I WOULD HAVE CONSIDERED HER A SERIOUS YORKIE BREEDER FROM ALL OUR CONVERSATIONS over a years time but now she is in my book just another breeder out to make money and doesnt care whos she takes

I can't tell you how much this saddens me Rose.....as you know, I'm in the market for a new baby. It's just so very hard to know who to trust anymore.

Rose, Just because we wouldn't do things the way that this breeder is doing things doesn't mean that she doesn't have nice dogs. Dixie has a lovely pedigree and if your happy with her I wouldn't worry about it. You can always think twice before you purchase an other dog from her but just because she decides to give into popular demand and breed yorkie poos doesn't make Dixie of any less value. Other breeders can be ethical and responsible and still have practises that we would not endorse. I wouldn't want to run a large kennel but some of the best dogs in the country are raised that way. I think it lacks the personal touch but it is economical, practical and they probably get more sleep than I do, sometimes my babies are noisy at night.

what buggs me is how do you know i dont love her as much i bought her as a show pup and she is not going to get there how many show breeders do you think have made this same call on having to sell .does that make me a bad person no just a foolish one and i really should have realized that at 9 weeks there was no way you could have known if she would be show or not that was my bad and yes i do have show people who will sell to me but all who buy a yorkie for show breeding or pet it does not always work out and i have offered her back to you and you have declined

ok pam i thought we called a truce and up till now i have done nothing but but speak good of you and my purchase so i would really like to know who said i had been badmouthing you i hardly get on hear yesterday was the first time i have made any kind of conflicting statement and why would i keep dixie for a year or 1/2 yrs i dont know any show or breeding program that would unless she was being kept as a pet only if i know she is going to be to small for show much less breeding i will not breed a girl under 5 pounds under no circumstances hello she is 2.6 pounds at 17 weeks and her sisters are at 4.5 and 5 hmmmmmmm do you really think she is going to get that much bigger she is very small framed
if my contract said i had to buy her back because she could now show or was to small to breed than i would do so and honor my contract i would not make the person waite untill i was ready geez and you are right we dont know each other that well but i dont like not being told my dog was the smallest and givin the chance to turn the sale down as you said you needed the money well i saved a long time to get another dog for SHOW
and now i have to start over which alot of us have had to do plus i dont let my pups go untill they are 12 weeks can you say the same no you shipped someone elses at 8 weeks old is that a good breeder to ship babies so young and how are you such an expert that you were so sure dixie would be a show girl she was to young and that was my bad for buying her that young and i recieved an email from you that said 230 yt members wrote you yesterday and told you i was bad mouthing you thats alot of yt members i never said i had gotten any from yt members look i know we all have hard times now days and money is hard to come by i just expect to get either or for my money and no i did not buy her with the intentions of resale i really love the little dog she is just not going to do what i hoped she would and so again i thought this was done but i will tell you each time you shoot at me i will shoot back and again i am very sorry for you r heart ache at home and hope all goes well for you and your family
