discharge, and she isn't in heat! Yesterday my 2 1/2 year old female, Lily, started to have discharge coming from her vagina. It is a tint of yellow, mucusy color. She just went into heat 2 months ago, I didnt breed her then but the heat before that she had a litter of 6. I will end up taking her into the vet if this persist, but in the mentime has anyone experienced anything like this? It is quite alot of discharge, I just found a couple drops on the floor of it. I put a diaper on her so it wont get on everything, do you think this is an emergency? |
first thing comes to mind is pyometra. It is when pus fills the uterus and is an emergency. Please call your vet. Research and see if this is what your girl has. It usually occurs on heats that the bitches have not been bred. In bad cases, they have to spay the girl of course. |

Thank you for your help, this is very concerning to me. I am glad I reached out for advice! |

How is she? YT has been down, and she's been on my mind. Anyone else a little scared when resting bitches? I was just told by a random vet giving a vaccine, (my reg. was out)if they're not going to be bred, spay them, PYOMETRA is just waiting. |
Thank God I acted quickly, I brought Lily to the vet early Saturday morning and they did an ultrasound on her and did confirm that she has pyometra. Since I acted so quickly the infection and pus was not that built up and she was released from the hospital Sunday afternoon, she was spayed, I am still a little upset about that, but I’m so thankful that she is okay and I’m sure she will be a happier dog now that she does have to have a period anymore. The doctor said most dogs that get pyometra come in on stretchers and need to stay a minimum of 5 days in the hospital! Thank God I caught it in time, not only did it save me a lot of $$$ but it also probably saved Lilys life! Thank you for your great advice! |
