my odd's Ok I know that I am probly getting annoying but , I have a few qeustions . 1) has anyone ever bread yorkie's over the age of 7 2) If you have what are the risks 3) would you breed over the age of 7 Any input would be nice Im looking for lots of advice here because it is somthing I want to do but I am not sure if I should do It . I will get two other Yorkie's and become a registered breeder through the akc , But I started to think about breeding Shasta for one of her pups to keep to breed. That way I will only have to buy one akc registered because shasta is already akc registered . any advice would be realy apprietiated.. |
How would that leave you only buying one? I'm confused. |
ahhhh Ok If i do deside to breed Shasta one last time I would keep a female from her and get it akc registerd , the male that I want to breed shasta with is also akc registered the same as shasta , But anyway I would keep a female and hope for the better that she would be up to the standard for breeding then to start out I would only have to buy one more pup and that would be a male . You understand now I hope so cause I explaind it the best that I could. :) :aimeeyork |
I think a male would be alright to breed at 7 years old but I definately woulden't do it with a female. Especially one that hasn't been bred before. It causes alot of stress on their bodies and when they are older their bodies can't take as much stress. I suggest spaying your female, it is just too risky at her age. There is alot that goes into breeding, make sure you do your homework before you buy any more yorkies or before you really decide to breed yorkies. |

To answer your question, no, I would not breed a female at this age. For one, older dogs have a harder time recoverying from anesthisia, so in the event that she should have to have a c-section, she is more at risk for complications. Also, older females have a higher risk of neonatal fatalities. |
i think ill wait Well my desission is that I am going to breed but im not going to breed Shasta , I will wait and buy 2 New pups from 2 different breeders , and that way they both grow up together and know eachother , Thanks for your advice , and all your help . i will most deffintly wait till I get another female yorkie to even start breeding but I will keep doing my homework about it that way I know what to do and expect . :) |
I don't think that you will regret your decision.:) |
