Easing an upset tummy?
 
Paisley is doing so well so far with her 2 new babies. She just keeps getting sick though. She'll throw up and has diarrea for an hour about every 4-5 hours, then she'll be back to her usual happy, bouncy self. Any tips to help calm her tummy? She went with the puppies to the vet this morning while they got their tails docked, and he said it was perfectly normal for her to be a little sickly, but not to worry. I just hate to see her feel bad!:(

She should have a hearty appetite now...correct? Eating waaaay more than before they were born...?

Well, she's eating healthily, I guess I should say. I told the vet this morning what all she had had in the past few days and he said all was well. She's never had a big appetite at all, but she is definitely eating and drinking more than she normally does.

That's a good sign then...you can rule out it being from and empty stomach. If she has been examined by your vet and he says everything is as it should be, then it more than likely is. Just make sure she has plenty of water so that she is not becoming dehydrated. And make sure that she and the pups are in a quiet area--stress can cause them to have upset tummies. Upset stomachs after whelping can last for several days...think of the stress they have been through and eating the placentas YUCK which can cause digestive upset.

BTW, congrats on the babies!:thumbup:

Thank you so much! I'm very excited and blessed to have them here! I don't doubt in the least that all that "foreign" stuff that she has digested has made her sick-feeling. Yuck!:eek: Does anyone have little remedies to help calm her stomach down a little?
