Question about Nutri-Drops??? :icon5: I received some Nutri-Drops via USPS Priority Mail, and looked at the stuff. It kind of smells like licorice/ molasses and is a dark brown liquid. Does this sound like a correct description of what it should look/ smell like??? It doesn't say anything about keeping it refrigerated or any expiration date. I tried giving Koko a drop and she shook her head a couple of times. Is this what you would want to give to your pups/ mom during whelping to give them a boost??? Aloha |

Nutri Drops does not have a pleasant smell and from what I gather from administering it, doesn't taste real good either. Yes, it's what I give pups as soon as they're clean, just a drop on my finger and I rub it on their lil gums. Mom I give when she seems to be getting tired and reluctant to push...just needs a bit of energy. It absorbs into their system quicker than Nutri Cal and doesn't cause diarreah. |

Do you have a breeder friendly vet on hand....has he/she given you information on Oxcytocin, and if so did he give measured out injections and how to use it? If not, and if the whelping process goes without a hitch. Make sure you take her to the vet for a shot between 12 & 24 hours for an injection. Helps clean her out and helps bring down her milk |
Good luck on your new puppies! I bet you are nervous but you will do just fine! I use nutra drops alot too. For new moms and pups. I use it during tail docking too. Immediately after its done. I think Mardelins advice on Oxytotcn is a good suggestion too. Ive been very fortunate and havent had a problem in the past with retained placenta. But I think it is a good habit to get into after birth. I had a girl get extremely sick right after birth and I thought I would lose her. Fortunately she is a ball of fire and we didnt lose her, its been months ago. But if she would have been given oxytocin after the brith, an infection would have been prevented. Be prepared for a 3 am delivery:D LOL. |

Thanks for all advice on the oxytocin. I'll be sure and get her in shortly after the whelping for her injection. I was just there today to get her xrays too. I wish he had said something about the oxytocin. He did tell me to call at any hour if we get into a fix. I think she just went into stage 2, because she's digging a little, not eating, and is very lethargic. Aloha... |
