Help with getting an infant puppy to gain weight I have a 12 day c-sec puppy that has problem gaining weigh. Can I get some good advice from you experienced breeders please. Here is the whole story: -Delivered through c-sec on 3/05/07 Monday, very distresses singleton puppy, took me over and hour to revive it -Couldn't get it to nurse on mommy for almost a week, supplementing every 2-3 hours with Esibilac powder formula and Nutrical. Currently I feed about 3 to 4 cc each time. Is it enough. I feed it through the syringe and when I am done I let it nurse on mommy. -I don't know exactly what was baby's weight at birth but on day 3 it was 3.1 oz. Today is day 12 it is only 3.5 oz. -I am trying everything I can and just to let you know this puppy is very active. Does't cry too much but moves around a lot. PLEASE LET ME KNOW WHAT ELSE I CAN DO??? Here is a link to my other thread: http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/showthread.php?t=71274 |
Bumping this up for you....hopefully someone will see and respond. |
how about rice water? I heard that helps.... |
I personally would drop the Nutri-cal and only use the Esibilac powder . The Nutri-cal can cause diaherra that you may not see due to Dam's cleaning the pup. I would also call my vet and get instructions on tube feeding. This is the best way to get the right amount of food in. Its not really that hard to do and can be a life saver. Make sure the pup is warm enough. They can't digest food if they are even a little cool. I hope the pup does better for you. |
