Question that requires a Breeder's expertise please. I have a question that requires the wise counsel of a breeder. What are the ideal lines for the body of the Yorkie? I see ads for puppies that refer to a "short coby body" and short little legs. Now I know this sounds and looks totally adorable, but is this the ideal? Or, should the "perfect" Yorkie have the longer legs? I do know that the topline should be completely straight, I guess I just want to know the right proportions of the shape of the body - length of back, legs etc. I would so appreciate an answer from experienced folk and I could not think of a better forum to pose the question, than the Breeders.:) |
Their bodies should be square, as long from neck to tail as they are tall from floor to topline. |

It's hard to tell when they're young. but they are both gorgeous. |

My long-legged female has a much more square body (perfectly square, for that matter), than my shorter female. |

Where do you know about Courtash from? Cory actually put me in touch with the breeder that has Mango's Dam. |
I should add that Misty Blue weighs 2.5 lbs. I wish I knew how big Mango is going to get. She seems to have had a HUGE growth spurt between 12 and 16 weeks. Is this normally what happens with Yorkie pups? |

I just checked the little female at Courtash. Less than 2 lbs!! I think I would worry wayyyyyy to much about health problems with such a tiny. I was even concerned when she initially thought my Mango would only be 2.5 lbs. Since she is now 16 weeks and already just over 2 lbs, I would think she will get quite a bit bigger. |

My Peanut is 3 pounds, 7 inches tall and 8 1/2 inches long at almost 4 years old. She is tubby though....her belly measured 12 inches today. (I measured her for a dress) I LOVE Peanut's size and want my next one to be the same or slightly smaller . Peanut is very healthy!! |
