Color Question When they say Blue/Tan what exactly does "blue" mean? I was told the skin color is a bluish color. Is that right? My girl is listed as Blue/Tan so I am just curious.:D |
The blue in the standard is described as a dark steel blue. In reality you will see it range from a dark charcoal grey to a light silver blue. Judges are always interpreting what dark steel blue is differently. The skin is not blue but will be a golder or darker hue in dogs with alot of pigment and ivory to pinkish in dogs with a silver hue. |
2 Attachment(s) Well here is her picture. To me she looks black and tan. Cody (my avatar puppy is what I thought was "blue"). |
Most all puppies are black and tan. They don't turn "blue" until they mature. The standard is for an adult dog. Most registrations that list blue and gold or blue and tan are betting on what is to come. I have held off registering mine to see if I can see if they turn blue. My male (7 months) is getting that sheen now that hints at a steel blue to come and his markings are tan. My girl (5 months) is still very black and gold. I will probably send in their papers next month. |
Well I did not know this. The breeder already had the paper work filled out and all I had to do was list the pups name and sign it. So I mailed it in yesterday. I wish I would have known I was suppose to wait. :( Oh well I guess I can change it later?? |
I hope this isn't stupid but, can someone post some pictures of what the difference is in all these colors? Mature pictures of what they are suppose to look like. |
I'm still waiting to see what color Lola will decide to be. She was definitely black and tan as a puppy, but now at 8 months old, her tan has turned to a very light blonde-gold color and her black is looking silver-blue. They just have to make it hard on us, don't they? :p |
