Again, to each his own on shipping a puppy but I would NEVER ship a 12 week old yorkie puppy whether it's been done by others or not. You can not control their trip in cargo and flying in the cabin you can. If the puppy were to get hypoglacimic you'll have something on hand and in cargo you wouldn't. But this is the way I do things and nothing will change my mind on shipping a small yorkie puppy. No offense to those that do but this is my opinion! not to change your mind but just to let you know, i worked in an airport for 7 years. if there is a delay in the flight, the dogs are brought into the airport. they are not left outside or with the lugguge. they are taken out when there is a connecting flight, they are pulled out of the crate to be checked (mostly played with by the employees). the employees are trained with what to do w a puppy if there is anything wrong (never in 7 years was there a puppy in distress). there is puppy food attached to the crate for them to be fed. the employees are aware when there is a puppy on the flight and have a special area they need to go to. i have only heard of VERY VERY VERY FEW incidents where there was a problem w shipping an animal. you are much more likely to get into a car accident than for something to happen to a puppy while on a flight. |

I've had a problem with shipping a dog and the dog was distressed when she finally arrived at her destination and was very frightened when a friend of mine picked her up and she wasn't even a puppy so after that I have and will not ever ship a puppy. Totally agree with you 100%. I shipped in the past with no problems. You can also ship VIP which the pup is shipped in the cabin. They only allow three or four of these a flight because I think that pup is stored with the airline attendants. I would do it again if I were buying any more doggies. It essentially ends up being what a person is more comfortable with and is a decision that no one should knock no matter which way it is decided |

Personally I find it is much harder on the adult dogs to fly unaccompanied (who are not conditioned to it) then it is for puppies to fly for the first time unaccompanied. This is just from what I've experienced. |
We all have different experiences, and thankfully the majority of us that have posted on here have had good ones. I've also had one or two bad ones that turned out okay myself, but otherwise they've all been just fine. Again, you just have to weigh the odds. If the Yorkie puppy to be shipped is tiny for her/his age, then yeah of course the odds of them having an issue w/ hyperglycemia or the like goes up and I wouldn't do it for anything in the world. But if they're a proper weight for their age and in good health, there aren't any indicators that they would have an issue w/ hyperglycemia during/after their flight. But it does happen even to the healthiest of dogs, just seldom thankfully. Again, you're all absolutely right, just weigh your odds and make a choice. Me? Clearly I'm okay w/ it, but wouldn't push others to do it because even to this day I get nervous about the "what if's" when I drop those dogs off at the airport even though experience has told me that things will most likely be just fine! :thumbup: |

Last spring , I shipped 2 of my little one to U.S.A. , they arrived ok . New parents were very proud to see them . The little ones were not traumatized by this experience . |
Breny, I'm sure all will be well! Keep a positive outlook and make sure they're prepped for the trip. I'm sure the new family(s) are really excited to greet their new little ones! |
I shipped my first pup Well I shipped my 1st baby yesterday. It went well and she made it home safe :) But I was a basket case until I knew she was home !!! :p (and lets say I said a few prayers and made my husband say one too that she'd make it there safe!!!) There was an hour delay in taking off due to unscheduled maintenance, which didn't make me feel so good! But she made it there safe, and everyone is happy :D I shipped NorthWest, it was direct flight, and yes I will ship again. :) |

I'm glad it went well for you Breny! Great news. I agree with somone in an above post that it is easier on puppies than adults. The big world is all new to puppies and it takes alot to phase them if they already have an outgoing personality. I worry just as much when a puppy is picked up personally by a new owner, as far as how that puppy is feeling, and adjusting. I would think that adults who have settled into a lifestyle would be more nervous than a puppy on a plane. I have shipped and have also been on the recieving end. All were good experiences so far. I was at one time considering putting a hault to shipping, but have decided that for me personally, it is ok. Alot of careful thought and planning must go along with it. |
I had my 2 girls shipped. One on Delta and one on Continental. I hear continental is better due to climate controlled trucks as well as cargo. Both of mine came off of the plane ready to play. I was shocked. I expected them to be shaky or trembling. Bit they were just fine! |
We had a terrible experience when we had a puppy sent to us. When we picked her up she was coward against the back of her cage. It was so sad to see her like that. It took us awhile to get her to trust people again. |

I wouldn't send a 6 month old child in cargo, why would I do it to my puppy....It's my experience if someone wants the puppy bad enough they'll come to get it, just confirming that the family is the right one for my puppy. Puppy mills are thriving on the net because they have a cute website and they can lie to you very easily AND MAKE YOU THINK THEY CARE FOR THEIR DOGS, BUT MOST ONLY CARE FOR $$$$$$ I got my first yorkie from out of state and he was shipped, it turned out he was not even the same dog I saw on the website. I know you want that cute puppy but please think about that poor puppys parents living their lives in cages. It is not worth it. Only support GOOD BREEDERS and the only way to tell is to see with your own 2 eyes!! |

i just hate it when people lump all breeders who ship or sell on the web together. i have never shipped a puppy alone but would have no qualms at all about doing it. i am more concerned about SELLING to people from the web that i kknow nothing about |
wait NO I am really glad there are good breeders out there shipping, or else it would be all the bad ones selling most of the puppies. I just think people need to be super super picky about who they are buying the puppy from and not just judge it by how cute the puppy is. |
