Help With Waiting List For New Borns i will try to make this long story short. first of all, you may recal me talking about there are NO "breeder" of yorkshire terriers in my area. just a few hobby breeders. not much to talk about. I HAVE NEVER ADVERTISED MY PUPPIES now that being said, my first litter went to my friends and friends of friends. 2nd litter went to their friends, family member, and cousins 3rd litter has gone to their family member and so on and so forth. you get my point. well i have another litter due by the end of this week and i have a list of about 20 people who want one . these people only know me from word of mouth. this litter is not here yet and she may have 4-5. how do i go about choosing who gets one. i know to screen them and i have spoke to each one of them already. they all seem to have very nice loving families. do i do a first come basis and take deposits? none of them know how many are waiting so do i let them know there are 20 of them waiting? this is just driving me nuts b/c i don't want to hurt anyones feelings or make them think i have chosen one over the other. IF YOU COULD PLEASE LEND ME YOUR EXPERTISE. THANKS SO MUCH |
well my breeder dose 1st come and if you dont give them a deposit by so many days, then the pup goes to the next person... Most breeders do this And its only fair. I would contact the 1st 4 or 5 people (or how ever many pup she is going to have, if you know) and tell them. hey I have people on a waiting list.. I need a deposit if you really want a pup, so I can hold it for you till he/she is ready to go home. You do the same if some one wants a boy or girl. 1st come.. IF they dont give you say.. the $200 deposit. Then the pup goes to the next person. Its only fair. So no ones feelings can get hurt |

i do have a form for deposits....at what age should i take deposits? 6 weeks? |
Here is what I would do. I would make up a questioniar like, house or apt. fenced or not, how many family members and their ages, do you have dogs now, how many and what breed, Vet. reference (or no dog), how often will the puppy be home alone and how many hours a day. Remember, these little Yorkies are not so common that they can meet the demand, and I would only let mine go to just the most perfect home. Also make sure you do a home check. |
Lisa, the ball is in your court. I am in the same boat except I have only had two litters. If it were me I would "hand pick" the forever homes that I think are best for my kids. Good luck, girl! Can't wait to see furbaby pics. |
