Male Yorkie STUD !!
 

Ok this is my first post and I'm asking for breeders help please....I have a AKC Ch-line male yorkie I would like to possibly stud. Can someone please tell me how I would go about doing this in Northern California. Fee info would also be greatly appreciated. Also does anyone know if breeders would just give me pick of the litter instead of an actual cash fee. I'm sorry if i seem dumb and I would greatly appreciate any info...Thx:)

I'm in Va. so I don't know much about the California market but I do know that most breeders will not give pick of the litter in lu of the fee. My advise would be to join the local kennel club and attend some shows. Get to know some of the breeders in your area. Show your boy to get him out there and prove him. If he's got the stuff the business will come. I guess you could say it's all about networking.

California market is rather on the high end. At times breeders will bite the bullet on an unproven male and stud him out with out a fee, just to have him proven. There are tests that you should have performed on your male prior to breeding him.....hearing, eye, x-rays, bile acids. Remember when studding out your male, if anything goes wrong structurally, genetically, the male takes the brunt of the blame.

Yes it is. He's still abit young but im looking foward seeing him grow.

He has 29 Ch- Bloodlines in his pedigree. I would love to stud him and get one of his puppies, but there isnt many local breeders here it seems. Looks like they are all south or out of state so far.

Championships in a pedigree is not the best reason to think of using him for stud services or offering him for stud services.
Really he should be shown AKC get his championship and wait until over a year old and you really see what he has to offer genetically to improve the Yorkshire Terrier breed.
I have been showing and breeding for a little more than 10 years developing my line based on some very nice lines and champions. PUppies that I sell are sold for pet only, their sib(s) may be show quality and I have kept them for show and breeding.
Each pup in that litter will have exactly the same pedigree, of many champions in the first four generations but that does not mean every pup in that litter should be used for breeding. The pet quality ones I sell for pet, the show quality I keep the best and show them myself.
I need to update my website, there are few show pictures on there. However, the outstanding show dog pictures I have seen is Laurie Hunter's NicNak Yorkies. You'll find that site if you google NicNak Yorkies. She is in Ontario Canada.
That will give you an idea of what a mature show dog should look like and those dogs would certainly produce some nice puppies.
