A question for Breeders please
 
I thought I would come straight to the folks in the know for the answer to my question. I am trying to estimate the size my 12 week old adorable baby Mango will reach as an adult. I read on another website that whatever the weight of a pup is at 12 weeks, as an adult it will weigh 2 times that amount.
My little girl weighs 1.8 lbs, which according to that site would put her at about 3.6 lbs as a fully grown Yorkie.

Is there any credibility to this? I would so appreciate an answer. I have no intention whatsoever of breeding her, but just ask this out of curiosity.:animal36

The rule is to take their weight at 8 weeks and multiply it by 3 or at 12 weeks multiply the weight by two. Of course this is not always accurate. They have growth charts too that you can go by, but again there is no way to tell for sure how big they really will get. Your baby will more than likely be pretty small, my guess would be around 3.5-4 pounds but she may not even get that big.

Thanks for the info! Her dad is 2.5 lbs and her Mom is 4 lbs, so that sounds about right. I am totally in love!

She's adorable w/her little tounge out. Yep that is pretty accurate on average. I say 12 wks x's 2 for minimum weight & 16wks x's 2 for max. She's gonna be a tiny, take care of her & you know where we are if you need us:) Oh by the way I am not a breeder, just a YT addict:p

I am so appreciative of all the good advice I have found here since discovering YorkieTalk about 2 weeks ago. It's so long since I've had a puppy. My older Yorkie is already 12 years.

Mango may be tiny but I swear she thinks she's the size of a Great Dane.

just remember, this is all a guess.
my kirby at eight weeks 4lbs and is now 5.9 per his last vet visit in nov (now 2yrs)
my muffie at eight weeks 4lbs and now is 8lbs (now 2 1/2) (well she preg now and weights about 10lbs)
the grandparents of the parents also have something to do with the weight

but the rule of thumb is like they said in the prev post
