Shipping info Needed
 

I need some info on shipping Yorkies.
I have never done it and would like to get some advice from those who do.
Pups check up and health cert. How long is it good for??
What do you place inside the crate for the pups.
Bedding, toy, ..etc ?
What type of food and water container needed??
Where do you attach registation, health, papers that belong to the pup ?
On top, side..and how do you attach them...etc.
Any instructions sheet for airline and new owner while pups is in transit??
Anything else I need to do and know...Thanks

Pups check up and health cert. How long is it good for?? I haven't shipped any yorkies yet but we ship our beagle puppies all over the United states. We take the puppy to the vet the day before it is to be shipped.

What do you place inside the crate for the pups. We place shredded newspapers in the crates. The airline removes it when you check in to see if there are any potential explosives or anything else dangerous hid in the paper, then they put it back.

Bedding, toy, ..etc ? Nothing, but a small toy probably is acceptable. you would need to check with the airline. each airline has its own website where they answer these kinds of questions.

What type of food and water container needed?? Depends on how long the flight is. Unless it is going to be at least eight hours, there is no need to put anything in because thee airlines won't give it to them anyway due to the possibility thee flight will make them sick. But sometimes we put one of those tiny, two sided dishes in the crate or hooked to the side of the crate. Some airlines request it. usually, we don't.


Where do you attach registration, health, papers that belong to the pup ? We do not attach anything to thee crate. The airline will attach the health certificate to the top of the crate in this little clear envelope type thing. All other papers are mailed to thee new owner the day the puppy is shipped or when we receive thee shipping money.



Any instructions sheet for airline and new owner while pups is in transit?? Not usually but i guess it could be put in with the health certificate. But, that pouch is sealed.

Anything else I need to do and know...Thanks We make an index card with thee new owners name, address and phone number under 'ship to:, then at the bottom, we put our name, address and phone number under" ship from'. Then we put this in a sandwich size plastic baggy and seal it up and tape it with wide tape to the very top of the crate. We also make the arrangements the day before after we notify the owner that the pup is ready to ship. we ask them for a convenient time for them and make arrangements accordingly. After arrangements are made, we contact the new owner with flight times, numbers and all arrangements. We ask them to call us when they get the puppy and let us know the condition the pup is in. We also purchase extra insurance. The airlines provide some and we usually buy a couple more thousand. It is five dollars per thousand added to your bill. The airline we use charge $170., plus tax to ship anywhere in the US for weight fifty or below. That weight includes crate. hope this helps.

We had Peanut shipped to us and he did great. The breeder sent all the paperwork and nutra-cal in a zip baggy taped to the bottom inside the crate. She had shedded newpaper, blanket, toy and chew for him. Also she had food and water in the crate attached to the door. He came to us at 13 weeks old on Delta airlines.

I just picked up a puppy that flew to me from Missouri and I'm in California. The trip hardly fazed him. The breeder that I bought him from and I both agreed that him being 14 weeks played a huge part. I think an older puppy fares better.

I had both my puppies shipped to me; one from missouri, the other from texas ( I am in Nevada).
The paperwork for both dogs was in a zip lock bag taped somewhere in the crate.
One crate had one of those foam pads, the other dog had shredded newspaper. I do not care for the shredded newspaper personally. It was a mess.
The first puppy I got was quite scared from the flight and didnt want to come out of her crate.
When I got sachi, he was a ball of fire, couldnt wait to get out of his crate and started eating immediately. Was starving. ((I personally think he was underfed to keep weight down)). Flight did not faze him at all.
Both dogs where shipped with the water/food dish attached to the door and had water and food in them. I thought that was a requirement.?.
I would not hesitate to have another puppy shipped ((except I dont believe I will ever buy another puppy without seeing it personally first, seeing the parents etc.). Not a bad experience at all.
