Ideas for new owner folders ? ? ? Hi all :wavey: I want to make little folders for the pups and there new familys with info and pics inside of mom and dad and the pups as they grow.I also will put info in the folders of the pups akc papers and info on how to fill them all out.But I wanted to put other important info in it like care, feeding, etc, etc ! I know most everybody here does this but what do You ladies have in yours ? Any ideas would be great ? Any suggestions on what You ladies plan on doing? Thanks |
Thats a great idea ! |
Both of the breeders I have dealt with gave these little packages (they come in really handy too - I use them to keep all of their vet records, etc. in order). Some things that were included in mine: An up-to-date vaccine record (helped me when I went to my first vet visit - I knew exactly what they had had done up to that point). A business card for the breeder A list of things that can be harmful/poisonous for dogs Recipe for healthy treats Tips for training your puppy (including potty training) A list of things to have on hand for your new puppy (this was helpful) Copy of purchase agreement/non-breeding contract I think adding pictures of the puppy and it's parents is a fantastic idea! Anything you can add to that would just be icing! |
:p I have not made my own for my puppies yet but when I bought my babies, the lady gave me a copy of the agreement, her business card, the registration & vaccination papers, information on hypoglycemia & potty training, a small stuffed animal (probably from the 99 cent store), a few little rubber-bands (& she showed me how to keep up the pups little pony-tails), 1 small zip-lock bag of Eukanuba puppy food & some puppy food coupons. I am also gonna include a small fleece baby blanket ($5- from Target) with my pups, just to make sure they have one right away to snuggle with. I know that all this stuff is not necessary but I loved it and am planning on making a similar package for my new puppy-owners. Good luck with yours...:p I would also love to read what else is good to give to the new puppy owners when I send them to their new homes...Thanks, great topic!! |
My poor little baaby went to her new owner 'peenniless". I only haad one puppy and hadn't really intended to sell her to anyone . It was a kind of spur of the moment thing. I knew the lady, a member here, knew more about yorkies than i probably will ever know and she had all this stuff already because she is a breeder. i did send her blankie with her momma's scent on it with her and a couple of little cheap toys. i had dog food also but in my hurry to get back on the road, I forgot to give it to them. Some breeder aren't I? LOl I am thinking of getting some things together tho before the litter I have now leaves. |
Here is what I include with mine: Sales agreement CKC paperwork Info re Hypoglaucemia Vet Records, including vaccination schedule One bag of puppy food a letter w/ my contact info a disposable camera w/ pics of their baby since birth (I have one for all the pups) feeding schedule I think that's it.... |

As of 2007 I will be including in my puppy files the results of their Bile Acid Tests and the results of their parents Bile Acid Tests. My home, work and cell number and my vets phone number. |
Just for fun, I made a DVD of pictures from birth until they went home to thier new families. It has mom and all their brothers and sisters together. It was fun to do and a nice "extra". Of course, I made a copy for myself. Oh yeah, I had the phone number of the closest 24hr ER vet. Just in case... |
