Breeding How often would a reputable breeder breed from a female Yorkie? |
every other heat cycle i think they need a break from it and don't breed litters one after another every time the female is in heat |
Thankyou Had been enquiring about a puppy here in the U.K the mum had a litter in april and now another this week think she may be producing to often will look else where. |
It depends - there are sooo many diff ways breeders do it. There is either the breeding every other heat...the breeding two times and one heat off...two breedings with two heats off and then the sad one of breeding every single time with never a rest. There are other things that need to be looked at though...such as how many puppies there were, how the mother was and if a c-section was needed. |

it all depends on the span of the heat...many will breed each heat if the cycles are 12 months apart and depending on how well they recoop. My vet commends to breed every heat because of hormones and hormone imbalance then retire early (after 4 litters) providing the bounce back quickly without complication and their heats are about 10 months apart. If any heat every 6 months he recommends every other heat. there is a lot of mixed opinions on this... |
breeding A responsible breeder goes from whelping to whelping..depending on many factors..there is no one correct answer IMO..except non stop litters with no rest is not using common sense. |
