blue and tan or black and tan help how do you know if yours is a blue and tan or a black and tan puppy? i mean mines black and tan right now but his black is coming in lke silverish what does that make him? sorry i new at this i never knew there were so many diff color yorkies |
It really takes them over a year or more to get their final adult color coat. If your puppies hair is growing in a silverish then that is considered blue. |
Oh Ok, I Looked At His Akc Reg, And It Says Tiny Mozart Then At Colors It Says Black And Gold What Does That Mean, Sorry I Just Wanna Know |
It could mean that the parents are lack and gld so thats what she expects him to be when his adult coat comes in or she could have marked it that because all yorkie puppies are black and gold. My breeder checked black and tan and mine are silver and tan |
I'm still confused after 2 1/2 yrs . Buddy was black and tan when I got him like all Yorkie pups are. When he turned one his tan became golden(more like copper) and his back started to lightened. To my dismay. He will be 3 in Jan 07 and he is still getting lighter. His black back is very faded. I don't know if he is tan or silver. Weird! He is not even close to being steel blue! i also read somewhere that blues are sicker than others is that true? |
There are two types of blue yorkies. One is a yorkie with an adult steel blue coat. That is desired and they have no health problems. There are blue born pups that are born with genetic defects and they are the ones you are thinking of being unhealthy |

Can someone please post pics of the two colors blue and black  |
I wonder about the color issue too. Lucy had a black body, white on top of her head with black tips when I got her at 12 weeks. She kept lightening up until she was light blonde on her head and kind of silvery on her back. Now, her face is turning red and I've noticed very dark roots down her back and sides. She's 11 months old now. Is she going to continue changing? |
