Females who don't get along Has anyone had females who don't get along no matter what you do? My husband and I got into a disagreement alittle while ago. He says I need to be the dominant bitch .. which I feel I am. This one female will attack only the other female and (I also have 2 males.. she loves them) if she runs in play, if we move furniture etc... anything will set her off. Is there anything I can do to help this situation? I've had them seperated for months and getting tired of it. Any advice would be appreciated. Thankyou. |
Sorry, I don't have any suggestions to help you out. Your husband is probably on the right track, but even if you're top dog, there is still a second in command. Do they get along when you're not around. When Lacy was alive and I had Great Danes she ruled the roost. She would actually hang onto their tails. She was scolded for it, but with the difference in size, they had to tolerate it - the Danes knew how to open doors so it wasn't unusual for them to be indoors in the morning and she would be all cuddled up with them. The second I walked into the room, she would start barking at them like "What are you doing inside? I told you you weren't suppose to be in here!" |
Read this article it sounds like it has some good points. http://www.canismajor.com/dog/feisty.html |

Seriously thought, just out of curiosity, have you had one of them longer than the other, or did you get them around the same time? Are they like that all of the time, just when one is in heat, etc? |
The only time my two females fight is when one of them is either in heat or still nursing pups. I blame it on hormones. Otherwise they play nicely. But during that time, I scold them, pop them on the rear or the nose and they usually will leave each other alone (for awhile, anyway). Good luck! |
