OK, here's a question for the breeders. If a person wanted a yorkie pup from you but they wanted him/her to have a tail, would you refrain from docking the tail?? I realise that is probably not feasible since they are docked at 3 days of age, but what if you have someone waiting on a puppy? Would you leave the tail intact on their puppy? Or would you just tell them they have to be docked?? The breeder I had got Autumn from (never will use him again) had said if I wanted a puppy with a tail then I had to sign a contract stating that I requested a yorkie with a tail so I couldn't come back and say he refused to dock that tail?? I was like, OK, but we didn't go back because he totally turned into a backyard breeder. |
I'm not sure I would leave the tail unless the puppy was paid for IN FULL because many things can happen that the buyer has to change his/her mind and not take the puppy. |

Anyway, I would possibly leave the tail if requested, but I would require the person to pay a non-refundable deposit in the amount of the cost to have the tail docked at an older age AT MINUMUM, possibly in full...not sure if you'd find too many people willing to put that down on a day or so old pup...not sure.... That amount would obviously be applied to the total to be paid upon taking the pup home. |

I would not dock a tail if that is what a buyer wanted, but would want a minimum of 1/2 of the purchase price (non-refundable if they decided they did not want the dog). Definitely would be a contract written. I think that would cover the Seller because they could then offer a discount to resell the dog and I would not want to be unjustly enriched by the situation and would refund any amount over the discount I had to give to the new purchaser. |

LOL yes, we did get Autumn from him...we were talking about getting a second yorkie from him with a tail at a later time. Sorry for the confusion. We decided NOT to go back for a second dog because we didn't like the changes we had seen in his breeding program. I should have worded that better. |
