Breeders Please Help Me Understand  Hello All Knowing Yorkie Lovers, I recently purchased my dear Melot, as my first adult pet, from a store and didn't know what to look for besides breed and registry:( Now I have tried to get insurance for my dog and they have excluded 1241 enteritis 1005 internal parasites due to his medicaiton profile.... On his papers from the store it says Quote:
It then lists medication.... My question is--are the illnesses as listed @ 4& 6 weeks of age what he actually had or received treatment to prevent? Did he have worms, kennel cough, etc? PLEASE EXPLAIN.... PS I am really not slow :yelrotflm I am just confused..Do I have a sickly puppy? |
let me first say hi to you hun and welcome also let me say by the way i read it it is the vacinations and worming procedures for preventtive measures that all puppies get... but u might ck with the pet sote but it says that unless stated otherwise all of them were preventive and it doesnt state any where that they werent so i would assume they are only preventative.. |
sounds to me like it was just normal preventative medications. Not sure why they are exclucing those things. I'd check with another insurance. You might want to do a search on here for pet insurance to see what experiences others have had with it. personally I believe it is a rip off. But others might have different opinions. I think you'd be better off to put the premiums in a savings accoutn each month so you have it if you need it. |
Thanks for the reply...I thought that was what I read, but I was unsure. Unfortunately they tell you this after you've paid...Yet I went with the insurance that was recommended to me I think API? |
I read it that way also - but IF you bought from a pet store - I would def check with your vet to make sure everything IS UTD - and all the best to you - hopefully everything that should have been done WAS done.... |

BTW, they suck you in. The first year is like 99$ but the 2nd year JUMPS to 398$ (special for New Yorkers, they say) does "New Yorkers" translate to "suckers"?.... It was just "not" for me! |
I didn't know there was an increase for the 2nd year. That's just not right. It seems like your expenses and risks  for the first year would be more than the second. |

Monday had gastroenteritis, enteritis (and any other word that ended in "itis") ... it all had to do with her stomach ... since I changed her dog food, there has NOT been a problem at all ..... you might want to ask them about the 2nd year, etc. ... I had the supreme policy but it excluded a lot of stuff .... Just ask questions. Wish I did ... |
I haven't bought the insurance & after hearing your stories, won't be buying it.:) |
I purchased the insurance when I first got Buddy.(051104). I forget the company but it was about $198.00 for him. He was 14wks. I never used it for the first year. I cancelled it the following July (05) and in Oct he got very sick. Bill was $2,000.00. No insurance! I signed up again. I guess your damned if you do and damned if you don't.
