Palpating I've learned that you may be able to dedect a pregnancy around the 22nd to 29th day of the breeding by gently palpating the abdomen to try and feel the fetuses. With a Yorkie, what should you feel and where is the best place to feel? |
I would recommend that you let your vet do it. You could detatach the pups by doing it wrong. |

I wouldn't say I palpate that to me means pushing pretty hard, but I can usually feel with a light touch and feel the little walnut size bumps at that point. If you were to draw a line down the middle of her belly, you can usually feel them on both sides in the lower half. |

I would not recommend palpation if you don't have experience . |
The vets can be pretty rough when they palpate, some don't believe in taking toys breeds for palpation for fear of miscarriage. I can palpate myself so I don't have to take them in, but I'm much more gentle than my vet. He tries to count, I don't need to count. I just want to confirm pregnancy. That being said, I agree with the majority. If you want to her palpated, vet would be best versus inexperienced. |
