Shipping Puppies I had originaly decided from day one that I would not ever ship my pups, but have been thinking about it and was wondering if anyone ships their pups? I guess I'm unfamilar with the procedure, therefore I had decided against it. Where do you even start? I'm just wondering, incase I may consider shipping future litters. |
We ship beagles all the time. What you do when the buyer wants you to ship is get the shipping money in your hand first. then call whichever airline you decide to use and tell them you need to ship a dog from point A to point B. they will tell you how much. Deltas charges $170. for anywhere in the US for a dog plus crate under 50lbs. this includes a thousand dollars insurance then you can purchase extra insurance. we always get the extra. it doesn't cost much. Then you tell them the day you would like to ship the pup (after you and the buyer decide which day they can go to the airport). they will give you a flight plan, flight numbers and times, changes and etc. then you just call your buyer up and tell him when to be at the airport. You have to get a health certificate a day or two before shipping from the vet and you have to have an airline approved crate. Not a problem. walmart sells them. you should include that cost in your shipping cost along with the cost of your health certificate. First you have to decide if you will ship counter to counter or cargo. Either way, the still ride in cargo. counter to counter just means that you ship from the ticket counter and the buyer picks up at thee shipping counter. they have to be eight weeks old to ship and the weather has to be between the limits on both ends. That can be a real problem in the middle of winter or summer. |
