Anyone know of Leah Altman/Walker Kennels Georgia
 
I'm looking at a puppy owned by Leah Altman (walkerkennels) in Georgia. Has anyone heard of her? I had one bad experience buying a yorkie over the internet so I can't believe I'm even considering another internet puppy purchase -- but there aren't many yorkies here in Saskatchewan, Canada giving birth. I suggested to Leah that I would prefer to put the $ in escrow, but she says she doesn't use escrow -- too many problems??? Her prices are reasonable and puppies are cute.

i haven't heard of this breeder but I did do some snooping around on the puppyescrow.com site and it looks to me like that would bee the way to go to protect everyone. I have heard it mentioned on here and haven't heard of anyone having problems with it before. have you considered buying a puppy off members heree? most of us are nice and caring. if i were in the market, that's what I would do before I went to someone I didn't know.

I just phoned Leah back, and the puppy is already gone to someone who is picking it up tomorrow -- yes good idea, I will start checking for puppies here. I have one story to share about this incident involving another breeder which I am about to share under a new thread "Karen Wilkes, Georgia another "breeder" to avoid"". (under Breeder Reviews)

There are guite a lot of reputable breeders in Canada. Have you looked into getting one from Canada yet?

Yes. My first yorkie is from Canada. (here in Saskatchewan) where I live. But I haven't been keen on the yorkie parents I have seen here in Sask. I have found only one breeder that I would love to buy a puppy from and she hasn't had luck with her females and new stud. She hasn't had a litter in over 1 1/2 years. If Canadian breeders advertised somewhere with pictures, I definitely would be looking across Canada. I have found a few in Canada, but to be honest they seem to be charging more than in the US. However by the time I pay the exchange and the shipping, it probably would be close. But yes, just the other night I was trying to find Canadian breeder websites and was sending out emails to see who has puppies. Thanks -- it is something I should continue to explore.

Here's a breeder that is in Canada. I personally don't know them, but I do know of someone who has bought from them. http://www.braecliff.com/ I don't know how far they would be from you but at least you wouldn't have to deal with customs...
